People who walk down the sidewalk rapping

Watched a guy walking down the sidewalk from the bus stop in front of my work (no fast food or retail job here, sorry). He was rapping his arse off to himself. He was all into it, swinging his arms, thumping his chest.
Why do people do this? I don't get it? Trying to get discovered?

The sidewalks I frequent are not populated by folks who rap to themselves.
