That's not the result of a dumb dog, it's the result of a bad owner. If this is a big enough deal for you to complain here about it you have to decide how much you like this girl. Either get out now or train the dog yourself, because if you leave it up to her the dog won't get any better.

She has said she will get rid of the dog if I want her to. I love her though and I will just endure it because it makes her happy.

We do not live together so I don't feel the ability to put a foot down. But I told her later down the road, if it's still acting like a dumbass...it's hitting the bricks.

She understood and agreed.

It's not about putting your foot down, it's about consistency which will be hard if you don't live together. My dog was potty trained in about 2 weeks, granted it was easier starting from a puppy, but the principles are the same. Crate training and pretty much only let them out to do their business until they get it.

Foot down in terms of telling her to get rid of it. I'm pretty consistent and disciplined with the dog. She just treats it like a spoiled child.

Just get rid of the dog.

I could never have the patience for an animal. The return is not worth the bullshite that you have to put up with, and they are just fricking gross in general. I can't believe people sleep with dogs.

To be fair to humans, dogs arent intelligent enough to be able to make bad decisions. Its not that they have bigger hearts, they just dont have to mental capacity to do very bad.

I dont see animals doing charity work either

Like what? My dog will literally do anything I tell him to and all he wants in return is ice, a toy, or to be petted.

Someone needs to train the dog. That is the biggest mistake dog owners make IMO (a close second is not enough exercise). Both of those should solve your problems.

It's everybody these days. Dogs have come from mere pets or hunters into members of the human family in the last 25 years.

When I was a kid, this one weird family would bring their poodle in the car when they ran errands. Everyone in town thought that was insane. Now everyone does it.

Today, folks who would as soon run over a BLM protester as look at him will cry their eyes out over a sad dog story on the internet.

The dog lobby has been very effective. Other downtrodden groups should hire their PR team.

then we shouldn't fault them for peeing on the rug, by your logic.

Why do people that have rescue dogs always have to mention it's a "rescue" when showing someone their pet?

sounds like she is treating you like a dog, kicking y'all out while she gets the pipe. Some people don't like their pets watching

That includes my GF with this dumbass rescue maltipoo, who shits on the rug, pisses everywhere and is a dumbass of all sorts. I'm going to punt his arse over the fence of the dog park and leave.

Miss DupontsCircle, if somehow he survives, I'm throwing the dog out the window today on I-395 by King St exit.

I mean, I get it.

But give those same dogs the mental capacity that humans have, and they are just as likely to rob, steal, etc.

I don't either. I mean if I had a human and a dog in each hand hanging over an active volcano and could only save one I'd clearly save the human.

I'm just saying dogs are awesome and peeing on the rug is just somethign that comes with it.
