Yea, and get on the 4 year job hopping rotation of perpetual mediocrity.

Your next move better be the right one, because 2 or 3 moves at max 4 years a piece starts to look ugly on the resume.

Yep, everybody thinks that doesn't matter anymore, and if you're a 1099, it doesn't as much.

For a W-2 position, it sure as hell matters, and that resume will never see my desk.

better that and the accompanying 10-20% raises than being in the same place that isn't going to promote you with some COL adjustments

that's how you end up 30 something years old, making less than six figures

I’m with you. If you want to be working 24x7 you ought to find a business to run, so you can make your own schedule

Sure, being stuck is not cool. I just have never met anyone who was actually stuck, and I dont see how somebody who was promotable would allow it to happen to them twice.

And company hopping is how you might end up 55 years old making the same money as the 30 year olds.

I had a coworker that is 76 years old. Loves to work. Loves to talk to people. Just wants to get on planes and go see people. When he was younger, he stayed in hotels 326 nights one year. Crazy. Has no hobbies. Wouldn’t know what to do with himself without working.

That's a prime sign that whatever work that person did sucks once it gets looked at past a surface level, and he bailed before anyone could notice.

Seen it plenty of times.

So you’re lazy and blame laziness on wanting to spend time with family, pathetic.

This country is full of soys!!

It's personality type differences. Some of us have that Japanese dedication to the company and can't turn it off. I promise you, we wish we could. It annoys us just as much when you don't pull your weight.

I’m not sure giving up that kind of money is worth the lifestyle that they could have afforded giving their family. Just my opinion

Putting in excessive hours to make a lot of money usually means losing your family. Quality time with your kids is any time you spend with them.

There are some women in my company like this. They’re single (because they’re miserable people), no kids, and don’t understand why everyone can’t be as devoted as they are. It’s really sad.
