A bag of dark chocolate Hershey's kisses. Unwrap them first.

Call me crazy, but if my neighbors refuse to abide by an implied social contract to be good neighbors, then I’m under no obligation to refrain from stealing their dog and dropping it near a shelter.

I did. He said he can’t control the dog and if I ever see it out the fence to just shoot it because it’s mean and he’d rather I protect my kids than save the dog. I didn’t have a response to that.

If a neighbor ever told me that I’d probably offer to buy the dog from him. Then I would try and find a home for the dog. Hopefully it’s not a Great Dane because they are killers

What kind of owner says to shoot their dog because he’s aggressive?

Your bedroom window is right next to your neighbors barking dog? Definitely poor man’s problem.

My neighbors and I all have dogs and they all bark. Our houses are close together so if one of us left our dogs out to bark all night it may be a problem but we are all responsible home owners so it’s not an issue.

I used to live next door to someone with three dogs that would bark constantly. My wife and I would drown the sound out with a rain sound machine(that we still use today). The owner was always outside screaming at them to shut up all hours of the night.

WOW! Sounds like he just invited you to shoot the dog.
On the other hand, that did not work out so well for that vet in Harahan a few years back...

If you want to be ruthless: Xylitol.

If you want to be a Karen: Some municipalities have an ordinance on # of barks within a certain period of time. Record and file a complaint.

If you want to be neighborly: Go back and talk to the owner again. Suggest the e-collar.

Moved from a subdivision with neighbors that had a dog like that. They were from Chalmette (shocker, I know), and had I not moved sooner, I'd have either beat the husband or shot the dog.

Call the cops! Regardless of time of night. They have to respond and dragging your neighbor out of bed to fetch their dog in the middle of the night will put an end to it. Call the cops every time it happens! It took 4 calls about ten years ago, and I haven’t had a problem since.

Whatever you do, do not complain about it to the owner because they will never do anything about it anyway and you will be suspect number one if you do something about it! Sometimes dogs get out of the yard and just disappear. It is really sad. I hope you find them.

Don't be passive aggressive, you have to live next to each other. Let him know that you're still having issues with it and propose a few solutions. As someone said, they make products to deal with these behaviors. I had a friend who bought one that would shoot water in the dogs face each time it barked. It was effective and it changed the behavior. Offer to pay for it if needed, seems like a small price to pay for your sanity and goodwill with your neighbor. Don't poison the dog, that's chickenshit and inhumane.

Our neighbors Golden Retriever barked at the stars, or the moon, or not sure what the frick it was but he barked constantly all night.

We got a white noise machine from Amazon. The Lectrofan, an older version of this: LINK

I'll be damned if that damn thing didn't do the trick. Never noticed the dog barking after that. Assuming you aren't bothered by white noise.

We have a neighbor a couple houses over that lets their dog bark all day. At least it isn’t at night. The thing that gets me is I don’t know how THEY deal with it. I’m a couple doors down and I can hear it if I turn off the TV and sit in silence. They have to hear that non stop. Maybe they are used to it? I can’t get used to a barking dog, not even my own.
