So you've never ever ever ever ever seen someone flash their lights to pass a car?

But I am always worried that the knucklehead in the left lane will move over as he/she sees me coming at a faster rate than he/she is driving.

THIS IS WHY THE SIGN SAYS GET YOUR arse TO THE RIGHT UNLESS PASSING.

more potential for an accident because its accepted practice to pass on the left.

plus interstate exits are 99% of the time on the right and this could also lead to a potential accident if the asshat going slow in the left lane suddenly decides its time to exit and you're passing.

WHY IS THIS SO HARD FOR YOU PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND?

But if you're not the fastest driver in the left hand lane then you don't belong there. Its pretty simple, move over, let them pass, then go back to the left hand lane if you want to.

Because the speed limit is understood to apply to all driving lanes
I guess you didn't read the statute. It specifically refers to impeding traffic flow at the speed of the traffic and intentionally avoids a rference to speed limits. You are wrong and every traffic enforcement officer or judge would tell you the same.

I'm convinced that Constant Cough is trolling and that a lot of people here are just really really bad drivers.

The last time I went to Dallas, I counted 4 times in a weekend that an idiot crossed from either the left or middle lanes to exit on the right. It was nuts.

But I don't whine and/or flash my lights at people when they don't. As you insinuate, maybe they are from the South and therefore just stupid and not knowledgeable in the ways of road etiquette as they are up North (or in Texas).

I just go around them and continue with my business. I have seen other dumbasses flash people for a mile when the right lane was wide open for them to simply drive around.

The point is.

You are never supposed to pass on the right.

They are supposed to get out of the way as slower traffic is to keep right.
Flash to pass is commonly used and is internationally known.

This thread is multi-paged proof of why people in the SE are such shitty drivers.

Both drivers were assholes and this whole thing could have been avoided by both parties. Seems pretty cut and dry to me.

They seem to follow the rules in Texas. But once in Louisiana, they coast in the left hand lane.

Sure is

quote:

Drivers often flash headlights to indicate the intention to overtake or pass another driver,[8][9] or to signal a driver who has just overtaken that he or she is far enough ahead to change back into the lane of the overtaken vehicle. Flashing is also commonly used to request or insist that a leading driver speed up or change lanes to get out of the way of a faster following driver.[10][11] Headlight flashing may also be a part of aggressive driving,[10] and can be used in an attempt to intimidate others into speeding or otherwise driving unsafely.[12]

And it is also illegal in certain states and countries btw

My grandfather would move over into the left lane on a two lane highway, if there was no incoming traffic, and he wanted to turn left. This way the car(s) behind him did not have to slow down and could continue on.

Does anyone do that now?

how so?

I only got in the left lane to pass a group of cars, who were long gone when I tried to pass the altima.

"camping" implies I did not yield to faster traffic, and this is not the case with me. You will never get stuck behind me being slow.
