I cared for lots of children with severe genetic disorders and I wish more people thought of things like this before they starting having children. Before I even starting trying to get pregnant I saw a genetic counselor and had a lot of different bloodwork done just to make sure I wasn't gonna pass on some horrific genetic disorder. Also...with my brother and sister and dad having a genetic disorder themselves I needed to be certain there was no chance of me passing that same thing onto a child(thankfully there isn't).
If the tests would have shown a chance of me passing on some genetic disorder...that would have made my decision on trying to have children for me right then and there.

I think part of the problem is there's definitely a school of thought that is pushing that you must sacrifice everything for your kids. Especially if you're a woman. We see it all the time on social media with people who are constantly pushing articles on how to be a "better" parent, shaming women who don't breastfeed, etc. Then you have the rising cost of "competiting" with others when it comes to raising your kids.
There are literally large groups of women who will shame the frick out of you if you're unable to breastfed your kid. And that's as an infant. I can't blame someone for not wanting to jump into that circus.

Yes and I don't get it. They become friends with their children instead of parents. And these "parents" end up isolating themselves because their social life becomes non existent so it only makes it worse.
If teenagers don't hate their parents, the parents are doing something wrong.... Not in all cases, but these type of parents have hard times telling their kids no, so they allow them to do whatever the hell they want so.. As that saying about the prisoners running the jail goes..

The hell with having kids. I'm too damned selfish - I want to live my life without having to worry about supporting another's. Same reason I don't own a dog. Granted, considering I'm only in my mid-twenties that might change in the future. However, as of now I have zero desire to take on that responsibility.
