Just using hyperbole that has some truth to it to illustrste the situation.

I was an only child until 2012 (Parents divorced. Mom remarried. I now have three older stepsisters that are all married with a minimum of two kids). I'm not saying that the idea of kids is an absolute no for me. But I also don't see it happening within the next 10-12 years.

You sound like a selfish sort-sighted bitch who can't make decisions for himself.

Nah, too risky.

Life comes at you fast

25 year old Salmon thought the same as you

30 year old Salmon was married, mortgage and kid

I should probably add that I have no weird riffs with my step siblings or my stepdad. It's a pretty healthy environment.

How about this? People can do whatever they want with their life.. If it doesn't affect yours then don't worry about it?

If that were the case, what the hell would the OT talk about?

First rule of successful evolved species proliferation: Don't force parenthood on those who don't want it.

That might go just as much for this thread subject as for the pro-choice / pro-life argument.

You mean you genes are perfect. By your hostile attitude, I’m sure your kids are flawless super athletes and future Harvard grads.

Most of the world's problems are all because 1 thing... Overpopulation.

I'm personally not opposed to having kids. I just know I'd rather have none, than to have them with a crazy person. So I'll continue to be picky as hell when it comes to relationships, and my future.

However, something just seems "off" when a healthy, young adult espouses that they definitely aren't going to have kids and have no desire to have kids

I think it shows introspection. There's plenty of people that shouldn't be having kids that don't know it.

And that's not limited to those on the left end of the socioeconomic scale. Plenty of well-to-do types raise horrible people.

I don't think there's anything morally wrong or unethical about choosing to not have kids.

Who in their right mind would? This isn't 1950.

Then I read the rest of your post...

quote:

People who say they aren't having kids are basically saying everything their ancestors went through and ovecame to allow their existence were so that they could enjoy ~80 easy years watching Netflix, going to Whole Foods, and keeping up with what their friends are doing on Facebook. Thats what this whole thing we call reality has been about - its culmination is your weak little coddled life where you get to be happy and content without any responsibility but to make sure you stay happy and content. Your ancestors traversed oceans, survived the Black Plague, and killed others so you could watch Gilmore Girls and eat ice cream straight from the box.

Quite possibly the most ignorant paragraph I've read on this site...if not the entire internet. Congratulations.

It would be interesting to see how many people that dont want to have kids had a good family life.

I dont mean the parents treated them poorly, but did they have actual fun with their family

I would assume this has nothing to do with it
