So, when someone is grieving, you want them to think of their loved ones as awaiting judgment and not be positive and take comfort that they may be in heaven?
In visual depictions, robes are more accurate.

Most people, at most churches, haven’t read the Bible in its entirety and probably not even most of it.

This is a pretty silly thing to judge people about, Christian.
Not judging... asking if there are sects of Christianity that believe this AND asking when and how the idea became prevalent.

So on your headstone,do you want a picture of a robe or angel wings?

Yes, you are.

This rule should apply to TD as well.
I think your first stop every morning should be the Poli board, so you realize how restrained the OT actually is in comparison.

Haven't thought of that yet.

Christians believe in heaven... it strikes me as odd for a Christian to process grief in a way that is distinctly not biblical.
a lot of "Christians" don't know anything about the bible. Unfortunately, many are using "Christian" as yet another political arguing point. Sad.

Why don't you take the time to tell us what your religion is and then explain what your religion teaches about this?
That way, we can get into some specifics. I think we might learn something that way.

“Every time a bell rings an angel gets its wings” is from Its a wonderful Life. Not the Bible.

Bible believing and reading Christian. Nowhere in the Bible does it state, suggest or even leave room for the notion that humans turn into angels.

I may agree with you but I'll have to give it more thought. Sometimes I think that this angels thing that you bring up might have actually come to us from Movies and the film industry!
But, what specific denomination church do you belong. What is the name of your church Pastor's specific branch of Christianity?

It probably comes from Mark 12:25
"For when they rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven."

Good question. I am not sure.

That's a good find.
Is Jesus talking about when we "rise from the dead" at the Second Coming?

Agreed.
Theuy certainly exist though, as is referenced biblically, and I do think angels protect us.
Ill recognize my guardian angels when I get there.
They'll be ones with shaking hands, trying to light their next cigarette, while taking a drink of whiskey...

I've been PCA Presbyterian (not the progressive ones) since June 29th, 2008.
I'm learning more about Eastern Orthodox and may very well "switch" in the future.

Maybe so, the It's A Wonderful Life film has been mentioned in the thread- I've never actually seen it though.

Angels were made by God to serve humans.
Humans are our own thing. No, w le don’t turn into angels after we die

Like the angels doesn't really read become angels... but yes, I can see where that verse, out of context, could be misconstrued.
