going to 2 widespread shows this weekend. i doubt I go in until opening act quits playing.
Have fun. I saw them on Mud Island 25 years ago this month.
Ironically, while checking their tour dates just now I see they are the opening act for the Rolling Stones in Denver next month

The greatest concert I’ve ever been to, the opening act was as good as or better than the main act.
1993 or so, Pearl Jam is playing at Tad Gormley Stadium, the opening act was a surprise. The fricking Ramone’s opened the concert. The crowd went crazy!!!

This is one of my most memorable opening bands is documented here.
This was the "Smithereens". Never had heard of them prior. His description is an understatement. I couldn't tell you how many things were thrown at them. Some fans up close were threatening the band and telling them to get off the stage. (A couple of those fans were removed)
At the end of their show, the lead singer simply stated "Thank you for your warm welcome"
Years on, I've felt bad for being part of that. Although I never threw anything on stage, I just sort of feel a little guilty about it.

Their first major gig was opening for ZZ Top at William and Mary College in Virginia on July 4, 1986. As Mr. DiNizio tells it, the audience was 25,000 strong and drunk with anticipation. Problem was, they were anticipating Ted Nugent, who had canceled. Upon taking the stage, the Smithereens were pelted with insults, shoes, batteries, underwear and gallons of cheap beer for the better part of an hour.
quote:
I was completely soaked from head to toe," Mr. DiNizio said. "But we had the will and experience not to leave that stage. That was the strength of the band. That's been the credo of the band. You never give up. You never give up

I've been to several concerts where I've literally done the opposite...gone to see the opening band because that's who I'm there to see and don't give a shite about the headliner.

I don't need to explain. Explain to me why I need to explain to you my reasons for why I choose to do what I want?

Simple. I don’t like the opener.

I’ve seen some good openers before they broke out.
Bon Jovi
Brent Cobb
Emily Nenni
Nikki Lane
Willie Watson
There is a talented 20 year old kid from the Minden area, Braydon Watts, who opens often at Louisiana Grandstand. I make sure to get there in time to catch his show.

GnR played a show once at the PMAC once where the opening act was so good they were worried about taking the stage after them. Anyone remember which band that was?

Go ahead and look up their latest video if you want to see how that ages.
Huntington Beach is the Baker of Los Angeles.

I’m often jealous that these are the types of conundrums that occupy the brains of the simple peoples. I want to pat you on the head and give you a big ole cotton candy you adorable retard

Just because your broke arse can’t afford their seats is no reason to wonder why
Posted on 5/25/24 at 8:26 am to Rouge
It depends on the act for me.

At my age and lack of patience for crowds - if I could know the exact moment the band I was seeing was playing the song of theirs I like, I’d literally roll in at that moment, listen, throw the devil horns, yell “whooo!”, dip out and beat the traffic home.

I was at that show. It was Soundgarden. When they opened up with Jesus Christ Pose & Matt Cameron going off on drums & Chris Cornell howling into the mic it was unreal.
GNR always came on late on the UYI Tour. That was almost every night for them due to Axl. That wasn’t unusual then.

I remember going to a concert a few years back and a mom and her 2 daughters were sitting next to us. They all had one of the opening acts shirts on and were really into the guys performance. They left after that guy performed.
not a good return for your dollar when you paid full price and left before the star of the concert
