There is no fricking way carhops get paid less than minimum wage.
This whole thread is based on a lie.

Even if an employee's hourly pay is less than minimum wage, they all make at least minimum wage when you account for tips. If the Sonic employee doesn't make enough tips to bring their hourly wage up to minimum wage then Sonic is required by law to compensate that employee accordingly.

Here's how I know Sonic carhops get paid at least minimum wage: because if the didn't then no one would work there. Tipping at Sonic is not a widely accepted practice.

The carhops at my local Sonic are all really nice kids and I typically do give them a dollar or two when we go there. They're always really polite and chat for a bit. From what one told me the other day, she earns around $100 a shift in tips, so I think your rant may be unnecessary. If "your friend" isn't making good tips, maybe it's time to look in the mirror instead of blaming the customers.

Correct, but OP went full retard and does not understand this elementary concept.

If they want a tip, they better ride the skakes. They have 15 seconds to make a good impression. I'm not tipping a walker.

By not putting a tip line on CC receipts, Sonic is telling everyone they are not expected to tip. Sonic says we're not expected to tip, who is anyone else to say otherwise.

Why isn't there a line for tip when I use a card?
This. If it was encouraged, they would include it as another line item on the receipt. Kindly go frick yourself.

You couldn't possibly have read what I wrote and then typed this :

I suppose you tip the gas station clerk when you go inside to by a drink, right? If not how is that any different?

Everybody knows they want , need and expect a tip and hope minimum wage is not their ceiling if they work hard and cheerfully. Great old saying that the true measure of a person's character is how they treat people who cannot help them. .j
Just a thought for you non- tippers.

The carhops actually make better than average fast food pay.
The OP is an idiot.

Just because I don't tip fast food doesn't mean I don't tip period. I happily tip 20-25% to servers, bartenders, and a few other jobs. Walking my food 20 feet doesn't entitle you to anything.

Has anyone told the OP to go frick himself yet?
Posted on 8/15/15 at 11:37 pm to 12
Yeah, but it's worth saying it again.

So because the company they willingly are employed by is not paying them what they perceive to be adequate wages, we should?

Do your research. Not every place pays $4. Some may pay less, some might pay more.
You should follow your own advice. If their tips do not meet the difference between base hourly wages and minimum wage, then the employer must make up that difference.

I have never heard of a person not tipping at sonic. This is a shock to me. Always give a dollar. It's a dollar. Grow up they are bringing you your food. Cheap cheap cheap
