This is the reason carhops make little to no money in tips anymore.
I worked at a Sonic as a carhop back in the early 2000's before they had credit card machines at each stall.
We all made an insane amount of cash for 18-20 year olds. We were also paid minimum wage, not that bull shite server wage.
If there was a tip line on the credit card purchases now, they would make a shite ton more money.

It doesn't matter anyway. If they don't make enough in tips, Sonic still has to pay them minimum wage for the hours worked, and minimum wage is what they should be making anyway.

No they don't. Sonic is franchised and a lot of franchise owners categorize their carhops similar to a waitress.
