For people that park in front of their house (Lakeview, uptown, etc.), do you get annoyed if someone parks their car in front of your house? Do you consider the street in front of your house "your" parking space? I've had a couple of the stay at home moms tell me I need to tell my tenants to stop parking in front of their house and that they should utilize the off street parking in the back. I refuse to tell my tenants to do this, it's a public space on a public street and they aren't pulling up on their grass or anything. Typically I blow it off but this has come up a couple times now.

City owns the street, if the city says move em, you move em, otherwise it's a free country

I would keep blowing it off. Sorry your house doesn't have parking but it doesn't mean you just get a piece of the city to make up for it.

Only if they are too close to my driveway. 3 feet or more, and I'm fine as long as it doesn't stay forever and isn't on my grass.

What's wrong with the off street parking in the back that's intended for your tenants?

Just don't park on the side directly opposite my driveway. I don't care, but I forget you are there and back into your shite.

I count myself lucky when the spot in front of my place is open. If it's taken, oh well, that's how it goes with street parking.

My dad gets pissed off about this. At his house in Kenner of all places. I told him when I go out I park in front of my friends neighbors houses all the time. He can't wrap his head around that.

That's the thing, we all have an alley that runs at the back of the property and that is where each house has designated parking/garages. It's a little more convenient I guess parking in the street so they want to have the area in front of their house open. (Yes it is that retarded I know)

To be clear, in Lakeview you are not allowed to have a driveway in the front of your house if there is an alley in the back.

Absolutely nothing is wrong with it, just like there is nothing wrong with the parking at the back of my neighbor's houses. I pick my battles with tenants, and this one is so dumb that I refuse to say anything.

why not just mention in passing some time that you dont really care either way but the neighbors mentioned that since you have a driveway it would be helpful if they used it instead of taking up the limited street parking..... dont order them or anything, but mention itd help the neighbor out if they choose to do that.

Why not be a good neighbor and at least request your tenants to park in the "off street parking in the back" (whatever that is)? Of course you're within your right to park wherever but I do know that if your shite is parked there for 48+ hours, it will get towed in Htown brah.

My street is dealing with a similar situation b/c the cock knobber at the end of the street decided to park his welfare pedo-van right when you turn onto my street so naturally it holds up traffic from the main street. City has been called on him, but he thinks he's getting free marketing for his business. It will be funny when it gets towed though. Someone shot out/broke out his window already two weeks ago and the van hasn't moved nor has the window been repaired

Why don't the neighbors tell the damn tenants instead of coming to you?

i have never gotten a spot in front of my house, although I have 4 spots in the rear but the alley is often blocked.

Wtf world do yall live in to think you own the street in front of your house? You don't.

Personally I live having people park in front of my house, as that means I live somewhere where people want to go.

ah, that makes it even sillier to be annoyed about. if you all have off street parking, then whatever.

my current house is a new build on a lot that was vacant but had a driveway on it from a previous house. the neighbor got used to parking in the random driveway and tried to continue to do so after my house was built and i moved in. that was an interesting move on their part, and a conversation that i couldnt believe i actually had to have.

if one of them says something again, lie and say you told them, but there's nothing you can do about it.

There are people with regular driveways on my block, with the alley in the back. But there aren't many like this in Lakeview
