re: People need to get off social media and back off the ledge

The premise of this thread is what scares me. I agree, in real life, divisions based on politics, religion and race rarely will manifest themselves when people interact and coexist on a day to day basis, whether it be at work or in the local bar.
The truth is, these things have always been used to divide us for political gain. Private thoughts and opinions on these matters have manifested in the voting booth, but not society at large. That's what the political class wants. The problem is, as we become more united in day to day life, it becomes harder for them to divide. More must be done. The problem is they are dangerously close to setting off a powder keg where it will start to manifest in day to day interactions. The next step is scary. We're not there yet, but if we continue to allow ourselves to be controlled we'll get there.
The Drew Brees example is the perfect microcosm of this. Drew for two decades has worked and coexisted with people with backgrounds and some beliefs counter to his own. But they have been able to do so in a productive manner toward a common goal. Yesterday, we saw these same people shun him off and saying they could no longer play with him.

I have not encountered a single person - black, white, brown, or yellow - that agrees with what is going on. These lunatics on social media are not the majority. Do not be discouraged and fall victim to their echo chamber.
People often don’t share their true feelings in real life encounters. What you’re seeing on social media is people sharing their unfiltered thoughts.
Not sure if you took sociology in college, but people are actors that communicate certain ways depending on the audience.

Big time. Talking with a buddy of mine last night and he was like "man, the country is in shambles right now... I don't know if we can make it out of this". I said ehhh, I think outside of some major metro areas, it's not at all what the media and social media has portrayed. Everything we see on tv and social media is all doom and gloom. Turn that shite off and go outside and its way different. We live in a constant state of fear which is amplified and pushed on us by all outlets... news, radio, social media, the internet, etc.

Yep. I purged my Facebook feed years ago of true racist and political loons.
The last two days I’ve had to snooze some folks. I still like them, but I just don’t want to see their crap right now. LOL

I don't think so. I'm not going to start hating other races because a bunch of morons are doing moron things. I will just continue to hate the morons. And they come in all colors.

I understand, man. I am still in college and work for my dad at the moment. I have several job offers from corporations and one from a sports team. I have never wanted to spend the rest of my life working for family, but after this whole fiasco, it is looking more and more attractive. I don't want to be bogged down with all the bullshite.

Yes. Everyone should just lead their lives as normal. This will pass. Get off social media do things you enjoy to get away from the madness.
I'm about to go loot some grocery stores. Ran out of ice cream and eggs. Of course looting a grocery store in N. La. is different. Don't save much money, and they bag and offer to assist loading the vehicle too.

I agree. I was just whishing a sniper would pop some heads at these "protest". But only shoot the white liberals.
So maybe it's time to back away.

Another dumb thing about this (well it started with the Covid mess) is that the OT used to be somewhat of a place to not have to see stupidity like above. Now it's just about all this board is (both right and lift included). The Saints board and probably damn near every other board except for I guess soccer is the same way right now.
