if we don't hit you don't worry about it, i personally don't pull up very close to other cars, I leave about 3 car lengths, just so i can let off my brake and be rolling when the green light comes so I don't have to accelerate as hard as others
nah,
these are the serial 'creep and brake', 'creep and brake', 'creep and brake' people.
its like they think they are somehow going to make up for being late for work by letting you know how impatient they are in line behind you.

this would only bother me at night if I were on a tricycle with a rear-view mirror. just sayin'.

and you have the privilege of being in front of them, allowing you to accelerate in your own sweet arse time.

You have to leave adequate, but not too much, spacing. I can't stand being blocked from getting in to a turning lane and making it through on the first green because cars going straight have huge gaps between them and you can't quite reach the turning lane.
Another example of this: turning left onto College Drive from the westbound exit ramp from I-10, long line of cars in the turning lane to I-10 eastbound ramp but the last couple cars trying to squeeze in at the light are blocking access onto College. If only a few of the cars in the turn lane didn't have 20-30 feet between the car in front of them, there is ample space for everyone to get in the turning lane and not block access to College

They talking or texting on the phone. When the turn signal gives them the green arrow for all of 8 seconds, they will wait for 7 seconds before going and no one behind can make the light.... Happens every time, bitches be bitches.

You should actually stop far enough back that you can see the back tires in front of you. If you get rear ended, you're potentially liable for the damage in front of you.
THIS is some stupid arse Drivers Ed bullshite that causes half of the traffic delays in Baton Rouge. MAYBE if you are the last car in the turn lane but when every car pust two car lengths between them and the car in front, suddenly three cars take the entire turn lane. When you add in the reaction time when the guy ahead of you goes, only three cars make it through the green arrow.

This is just how most cars greet one another in public. Much like dogs, a car will carefully stick its nose in another car's tailpipe to sniff it.
Your car must not be very friendly if it doesn't do this.

Maybe they are making room for the people in the back of the line to be able to squeeze into the turning lane?
I do this all the time. Its rather annoying when oblivious drivers sit there when an entire car length ahead of them when people behind them are trying to get into that lane.

pretty sure they teach you this so you don't get stuck behind some arsehole who breaks down, but I agree. very dumb.

Louisiana drivers have horrific response time to a green light. When I go to any other state, I notice this. I don't know if it's bad info passed down the line from drivers ed (like the 2 car lengths thing), texting and not paying attention, or just slow thinkers. But whatever it is, it is a problem.

Be thankful you don't live in the Atlanta area. Tailgating is unbelievable here. It doesn't matter how fast you are driving, there always some arse trying to see how close they can get behind you. If I was a cop I would wave to speeders and ticket every person I see tail gating. Seriously. Those people suck.

this. Maybe they have some situational awareness for once.

I really hate this but for a completely different reason. I've got a manual car and on hills cars will creep up just an inch or 2 behind me. Manuals drift back if you're not careful and I've known people to hit cars because of that.

My favorite are the people who stop so close behind you they're almost sitting in your back seat.

What's worse is the people who are first in line that steadily creep up until they're halfway in the middle of the intersection by the time the light turns green.
This doesn't bother me at all if they aren't blocking the intersection.
I can appreciate the sense of urgency
