People in line at a stoplight creeping up on the car in front of them.

What is your end game?
Do you think you are somehow going to get to where you're going faster if you stick your hood up the arse of the car stopped in front of you?
eta should have said "women in line at a stoplight..."

And yet when the light actually turns green they'll let the car in front go 20 yards before they even touch the gas pedal.

I don't see why this is an issue... I'd be more upset with those that choose to leave 2+ car lengths in between.
That being said, I never get super-duper close to the car in front of me for fear of getting rear-ended and getting pushed into a second collision.
ETA: I think the people that leave more space tend to take longer to go when it's green.

You should actually stop far enough back that you can see the back tires in front of you. If you get rear ended, you're potentially liable for the damage in front of you.

Saves gas. The closer you can stay to 100mph the better

They talking or texting on the phone. When the turn signal gives them the green arrow for all of 8 seconds, they will wait for 7 seconds before going and no one behind can make the light.... Happens every time, bitches be bitches.

Maybe they are making room for the people in the back of the line to be able to squeeze into the turning lane?

What's worse is the people who are first in line that steadily creep up until they're halfway in the middle of the intersection by the time the light turns green.

and when they finally realize the light is green they speed off at a bazillion miles an hour...as if that will help those of us waiting behind them...sheesh

what a well thought out response. again, why are you worried about what's behind you?

This has got to be one of the biggest reasons for traffic problems around here. It is out of control.

if we don't hit you don't worry about it, i personally don't pull up very close to other cars, I leave about 3 car lengths, just so i can let off my brake and be rolling when the green light comes so I don't have to accelerate as hard as others

I posted this in another thread a while back, but it never went anywhere. My theory is that, from a stopped position, a loaded freight train accelerates its mass more rapidly that an equivalent length of cars, on a per/ton basis of course. Someone do the math on this.
