Really this is the dumbest place to bring kids. People need to think somewhat critically. If it gets remotely violent, protestors will likely need to be broken up.
Moreover, if it gets remotely violent, you want your kids not only exposed mentally but physically knowing good and well people have been killed in the crossfire of this bullshite?

There is no clear delineation of what is peaceful and what is not. All it takes is one arse hole to not be peaceful, and those people only care about themselves, certainly not anyone’s kids
It makes me sick how many people have their head in the sand that think just because they went there peacefully that they can disassociate with those that didn’t with no actual action. Particularly because one of the main messages being pushed is “silence is violence”. But that can’t apply to you when you got your phone out filming actual violence because you went there peacefully?

The ones in front of the WH have mostly been pretty peaceful. The only really ugly scene was when it was cleared out for Trump's photo op. DC has overall been very peaceful the past 2 nights.
Not sure it's an environment I'd bring my kids to, but I don't think it's absurd to have an expectation of not being tear gassed by law enforcement.
But the OP really lacks enough info to judge it. What day did she go, what time of day, how long were they there,etc?

I have no problem with them making that decision for a PROTEST. Take them during the day to a permitted protest or demonstration, let them see people peacefully expressing themselves, as is their right, and leave.
If you keep a child out at one of these events after dark and after shite has deteriorated to group-think mayhem, you are not a fit parent, and you should not be responsible for a child.

Yeah and if it wasn't clear, my posts are criticisms of its use. There have been some instances where it was warranted, but none that I recall in front of the White House.

Here's the thing, she may have had 100% intention to protest peacefully. But she does not know everyone else's intention. Some people have let it be known that it is their intention to start riots.
Why put your child in an uncontrollable environment like that?

Yeah that is clear. But distinguishing expectation and reality seems to be a common theme of these protests

I've stayed up very late every night this week watching livestreams of the protests, and have only seen this happen a couple of times and none of them were in front of the WH, or even in DC.
The vast majority of the violence that I've seen has been instigated by law enforcement, especially over the past couple of days.

I agree with this! And even if cops don’t play a role. You never know when the protesters will get violent or looters start to destroy homes and businesses. Definitely not something you want a child. Send you child to day care or baby sitter and help keep stimulating the economy while you go out and protest.
