I find it crazy that investors are betting on this type of thing, but I guess I shouldn’t be surprised.
It's crazy and genius at the same time, but also seems ripe for corruption.

Banks wanted money off gambling too I guess

Wow given how subjective the call is and how embittered the debates have been in the past on the timing of it...this won’t cause problems at all. Nope.

I’ve read that the red line is greater than 25 deaths in 2 countries. I don’t think it is dependent on a formal declaration of pandemic. But who knows, that’s just a rumor.

will default if WHO declares the coronavirus a pandemic
So what are the criteria for the WHO to declare a pandemic? Do they have exact numbers written down somewhere, or is this a judgment call?

How much money would Disney lose if workers tested positive for CV?

Disney is pretty near their bottom, stock has dropped from mid 140's to low 120's over the past week alone

It's already dropped 20% for a very valuable company that is time tested.

I doubt a contract that big just left it openended. But, the BP Oil Spill agreement was pretty bad.

So what you’re saying is... WHO will wait u til after June to call it a pandemic

Pass on World Bank.
I'll take my action to the the Beau Rivage.

They usually hold press conferences to say things that everyone knows already.

Must be what China directed them to do

I think they have more specific criteria to trigger a payout, but regardless waiting would benefit the bond holders. Declaring a pandemic now would benefit the World Bank.
I guess it depends on who is the “bad guy” in a potential conspiracy theory. The world bank or some WHO member who took out millions in bonds.
Regardless, $500 million isn’t much in the grand scheme of things. There are much easier ways for those types of people to make that kind of money.

I'm not sure default is the correct word. The world bank is gonna use those funds to pay countries in need instead of bondholders at maturity. Also it appears that they could get part of their money back in the event that all of the initial bond issue isn't used. It is an interesting concept. The class B bonds are paying 11.10 above 6 month Libor so roughly 13 percent. It isn't just for Corona viruses. There is a specific pandemic flu in the prospectus. On the class B bonds there are 4 other diseases included.

They're also dropping because the CEO that build the Disney we know of today stepped down. He oversaw the purchases of Pixar, Marvel, Fox etc. since 2005. They replaced him with the guy that ran the Disney parks and resorts side.

The trigger event is determined by a third party private company - AIR Worldwide Corp out of Boston. According to Bloomberg, the riskiest tranche ($95MM) is selling for 60 cents on the dollar while the larger, safer tranche ($225MM) is selling near par. Not sure what makes either tranche riskier/safer.
