But it’s hilarious how vocally it’s insisted that “no one” is rooting for this to be bad, and that “no one” has a gleeful tone when bad news does come up.

Was just about to post that... I’m sure we could come up with a valid list of potential culprits.

Well... ...I don't trust the numbers we're getting since it's so hard to pin down real statistics in a time of national crisis.

Katsunobu Kato warned the nation was "entering a new phase" in the outbreak of the virus, which has infected nearly 60 people in Japan so far.
"We want to ask the public to avoid non-urgent, non-essential gatherings. We want elderly and those with pre-existing conditions to avoid crowded places," Kato said after a meeting of a panel of experts.
"I think it's important that we exercise Japan's collective strength. We wish to ask the Japanese people for their cooperation and it will take everyone being united to tackle this infectious disease," he told a press conference.
Kato said cases with no clear transmission chains and involving people who have not travelled to China, where the outbreak began, meant Japan was entering a new stage.

There is some speculation that re-infections can occur and cause myocardial issues, but I'm just taking that as speculation.
Does that mean Malaysia is in on the conspiracy:
No evidence recovered Covid-19 patients can be re-infected
quote:
IPOH: There is no evidence that individuals who have recovered from the Covid-19 infection can be re-infected, said Deputy Health Minister Dr Lee Boon Chye.
He said normally any individual who recovers from a viral infection will have immunity against that virus.
“It is feared that a re-infection can occur, but so far there is no evidence this can happen. Usually, after a viral infection it is rare to get a secondary infection by the same virus because we are protected by the immunity created.
“In China, for example, doctors use blood plasma of patients who have recovered (from Covid-19) to treat seriously ill people, but we need data to know whether it works or not,” he told reporters after handing over school security monitoring equipment, here, today.

How do you make a virus that targets Wuhanians?
Hopefully this doesn't derail the thread (is that possible?). I just needed to do something kinda funny/uplifting after spending some time with my grandma in hospice.

BREAKING: Epicenter of coronavirus outbreak reports 1,933 new cases and 100 deaths
Is there a resource that shows daily numbers all together. Or a graph with these numbers?

This re-infection nonsense is a great example of misinformation out there that looks like it can be coming from a reliable source.

https://coronainfo.xyz/
It has some graphs that includes SARS and MERS numbers (and a logarithmic function as a checkbox as well).
Coronavirus COVID-19 Global Cases by Johns Hopkins CSSE
That has the numbers and has a graph on the bottom right. It's one of my favorite resources.
Worldometers for Coronavirus 2019
Has info and some graphs too.

Our early assessment of COVID-19 transmission suggest that increases of temperature and humidity may not lead to declines in infections without the implementation of extensive public health interventions.

I'd assume that the Japanese took extra caution with passengers and it still infected this person. Just how contagious is this thing?

That is the second Japanese official working the ship to be infected.

The 4th death outside of China was an 80yr old Hubei resident in France... So we are at
80yr Japanese Woman in Japan
80yr Hubei man in France
60yr Wuhan man in Philippines
38yr HK man w/ underlying health issues in HK
I’d think if were going to see a break in the pattern, it would be in SG with all the cases they now have.

From the Global Times:
Xinxian county in Henan Province to prolong quarantine period for people traveling to Wuhan or contacting with #Wuhan residents from 14 days to 21 days, after discovering 2 unusual #COVID19 cases.
One of the new cases was diagnosed 34 days after returning from Wuhan, and another 94 days after coming in contact with a Wuhan resident. Both infection sources are unknown.

94 days?
Something isn’t right here
If it does by some chance have a very long incubation period in some cases could this explain the apparent lack of spread outside of China? Maybe there are a lot of infections that just haven’t materialized yet. Let’s hope this story isn’t true
