Whatever is happening in Hubei Province doesn't seem to line up with what is happening in the rest of the world. Even in the rest of Asia cases are just slowly trickling in, outside of that cruise ship.
So it is hard to square stories like below from Jennifer Zeng, a human rights activist. Maybe a lot of what is coming out of Hubei is misinformation by those who oppose the communist government?

Agree... Something unique about that area and what’s going on. But will we ever know? Not likely with the Govt. Is the WHO still on the ground or were they allowed in and then pushed back out?

As always, the truth is between the two extremes.
Remember, the talk about “trusting China’s numbers” started because of people not buying twitter reports weeks ago that 100k+ were dead. Still haven’t seen anything new leak on that.
If it was anywhere as bad as she was saying, China probably would have cut the internet to make sure the story is suppressed.
Instead we do indeed get videos, except they are either obviously altered or was not filmed when/where it was claimed to be.

First off, stop trying to conflate others into groups. Its getting tiresome dealing with "gotchya" posts with points that were made by someone else. Its especially tiresome when you don't even include the guy who I actually agreed with in your derisive statement because he shares you viewpoint more often than not.
Second, I'm not trying to get in the heads of anyone. No data to even begin it. What we do have is the ability to look back and see how many statements were fabricated or false.
And with that skeptism, look at whats being said now:
Apparently we have a racist virus that just hates China.
It is killing entire extended families regardless of age or gender in China...but once it leaves the China border it suddenly becomes a kitten, with a mortality rate lower than a tenth of what we are "told" by these brave crusaders. Even when those infected are ethnic Chinese.

Hell, had a friend in GZ tell me the govt was saying that the US orchestrated this bio attack on China
So the misinformation comes from both sides of the aisle. As most in this thread have said, the cases in the likes of SG, Japan, Europe, and the States should be the benchmark for determining this things severity.

Haven't read through the thread too much, but I've heard that some are concluding the virus is man made and apparently there's some sort of bio lab directly across the street from the very market that's believed to be the epicenter of the epidemic.

I don't have an opinion on how this virus originated because I'm not an expert in virology and wouldn't have enough data if I was. But, if you wanted a bioweapon that was relatively targetted to a limited demographic and didn't spread widely, this one "seems" to have some favorable characteristics so far.

If I knew that, then I'd probably have an opinion about the origin of this virus. I'm just commenting on the early apparent spread and severity of disease. An effective bioweapon would not necessarily be one that spread severe disease everywhere on the planet.
