Peloton recalling all treadmills after reports of injuries, one death

In a statement, Peloton apologized for not acting more quickly to resolve the issue after reports of one death and dozens of injuries.
"I want to be clear, Peloton made a mistake in our initial response to the Consumer Product Safety Commission's request that we recall the Tread+," CEO John Foley said in a statement Wednesday. "We should have engaged more productively with them from the outset. For that, I apologize."
Peloton shares tumbled more than 12% on the news.
The company is advising customers who already have either the Tread or Tread+ products to immediately stop using the equipment and contact Peloton for a full refund or other qualified remedies. It added that it is working on a repair that will be offered to treadmill owners in the coming weeks.
The recall affects about 125,000 Tread+ machines and roughly 1,050 Tread products in the U.S.

Death by Peloton is a hell of a way to go

Some of the videos of kids getting sucked under the machine are hard to watch. Most involve them playing with an exercise ball too close to the back of the machines.

From reading more, the treadmill is open designed and kids, pets, and people are getting pulled under the damn thing while it's running.

This statement is all wrong. You can't just outright acknowledge that you made a mistake, that's how your shares go into freefall. He should have phrased it as:
"Just like our customers, Peloton is constantly striving for a firm appearance, free of bad habits. As a company, causing our customers to die is the proverbial poundage that we're trying to burn, and we just turned our equipment up to max resistance."

The video of a kid getting trapped under it is pretty crazy.
It senses the obstruction that is blocking the belt, it backs out a little bit then powers forward again to attempt to clear the obstruction.
The obstruction in this case is a kid getting sucked under the treadmill like the clown in poltergeist.
