Pediatric Medicine - D.O. vs M.D.

Looking to pick a pediatrician within a practice, there are both DOs and MDs in the practice. Education and experience are all pretty par, U Chicago, Northwestern or Michigan grads with residencies at the top children's hospital in the state.
In this instance should I care whether I select an DO or MD?

Very little variance in care, go with the one you feel most comfortable with treating your child.

This subject has been spoken about here more than a bit lately.
The general opinion has favored M.D.s.
That happens to be mine as well.

You listed all MD schools.
For the most part though, there is more variation from Doctor to Doctor than from med school to med school. All things being equal though, MDs typically get better residencies.

No.

I'd pick an MD but it really doesn't matter. Assuming you have a healthy kid, just find someone you and your kid like.

I'd go with the nurse practitioner...

Thanks for the input, given the fact they are all part of the same private practice I imagine there will be standards of care across the group. Wanted to be sure I wasn't missing something bigger.
Much appreciated.
Much appreciated.

My wife/gf/mom/sister is an NP and she's way better than any physician.

So no difference. May as well go with the one your child prefers.

I mean, I want a MD if all things are even. I don't think a guy at the top of his class is applying to DO school.

It's harder to get your MD than your DO. It's harder to get residency as a DO than as an MD....
If you want to do a little more digging, then figure out where they did residency (shouldn't be too hard). Make sure the DO didn't do a residency at a "DO only" residency.
If they are "MD residency" trained, and thus board certified, then go with who you feel more comfortable with, not with the abbreviations.

M.D. It's like having to choose between an Internal Med doc and a family practice doc. Both have a basic level of knowledge, but one will usually be better than the other.

I would have no problem picking a DO, and would not let the DO/MD issue sway me. Go with who you feel most comfortable with, and remember you are not marrying them , no problem changing providers down the road.

Our MD just left the office and my wife and I opted for a DO. I have been more pleased with the DO. She has more years on her and is level headed. The MD would over react to every little thing he found in our daughter. Had us doing echoes and going to all types of heart specialist saying she had a large hole in her heart. Specialist said it was just a small murmur that would go away with age and no hole. The same thing the MD said on her first checkup post birth but lacked confidence to stick to.
