Peacock being forced on YouTube Premium subscribers

NBCUniversal and YouTube have reached a multiyear deal that will see Peacock ingested into the platform for YouTube Premium subscribers in the U.S.
Slated for early 2027, all Peacock content — including sports like the NFL and NBA, Universal films and Bravo originals — will be included in YouTube subscriptions.
The partnership comes weeks after Comcast announced NBCUniversal would split from its parent company.

For a while it was more convenient and cheaper to cut the cord. Now companies have become money hungry and changed to a system where you essentially need multiple streaming platforms to watch what you want, and the combination is more expensive than cable. Back to the high seas for me.

i am so glad i cancelled cable 10 years ago. i cant imagine playing the hokey pokey with all the pissing matches going on between content creators and providers. what a disaster. this is why IPTV has become so popular.

Somebody posted a good rant on the MSB earlier this year where the guy is basically like "I just want to get back to my cable package from ten years ago."

I gave up cable 4 years ago and got YouTubeTV. Well I gave that up 3 weeks ago saving $91/month. Now I’m down to just Prime and YouTube Premium. I will be royally pissed if they radically raise the price for Premium. The whole reason that I have it is to avoid the ads. Offering just an ad free experience isn’t good enough.

I miss my directTV circa 2005 that was like $75 a month for 3 TVs most all channels including HBO and I always got Sunday ticket free because I threatened to cancel

i mean i guess we're probably missing something but i haven't had a cable or streaming bill in a decade. i see things like $91/mo and my mind boggles. imagine in 2026, paying $91/mo for ad-supplemented content. i just cant wrap my head around it. throw in internet bill and cell phone bills and its ridiculous how much we are paying for ....shite.

Can you not just juggle between the different platforms one month at a time? I have a family of 5 and we have Netflix, Prime, Paramount, Disney+ & AppleTV.
We only pay $21.94 for Netflix, $13.99 + tax for Paramount (still in intro window). AppleTV & Disney+ are free through my cell phone plans, and I consider Prime free because we have the membership because of the shipping
I don't have streaming now, but may go back to YTTV during football season, TBD. But to compare to a cable package, I would be looking at the $140 plan for the channels I need

online streaming is absolute shite and then having to sit through 3 minutes of ads every 7 minutes on top of that is the icing on the cake.

I think youtubeTV is a pretty great product.
Will be even better once ESPN unlimited is integrated into it this fall

Price was never the main complaint. Or it shouldn’t have been.
It’s ads, contract length, and quality of programming.
It’s crazy to me how people get so stuck on the price point. Yeah if you have multiple streaming services, it’s more expensive.
If you have 2 or 3 it’s cheaper,
You have more content, you have better shows overall (you only saw the cream rising to the top with cable), and you aren’t locked in.
It’s way better.
It’s ads, contract length, and quality of programming.

Does IpTV work well with local sports? I’ve used KODI off and on over years but it’s wonky and half the addons don’t work or go extinct. It’s not really point and click like YouTube TV or Netflix
