LSU honestly just needs to buy up everything in the Northgate area that isn’t already owned and managed responsibly. Evict the stupid smoke shops or put very strict lease terms in place about unsanctioned events. As much as I don’t think a university should be in the business of being a landlord, there aren’t a lot of other practical solutions to get that area back under control.

LSU needs a lesson from mardi Gras version of NOPD. All the way down Highland 1/4 mile past South Gate and same with Northgate.

If LSU can make an extra nickel on it, it may become a reality.

lol I dont think yall understand, while Northgate is a problem... is not causing this problem.... This problem is caused by the push to increase black enrollment. Its 20% right now... 2020 15%, 2015 11%.

University needs to ban marijuana on campus and police need to be out there with drug dogs. That will stop the problems that have started this year.

Yes, some fragile little pot heads will have their feelings hurt, but the rest of civilized society can attend a football game and tailgate without having to worry about some trash not getting "respek" and shooting up the place.

All this bitching about how horrible the experience is now.

Quit going. Quit giving them money. Quit watching the games. Quit caring. LSU will get the customers they deserve.

I get the resistance to it. It's conceding defeat. Your only option as a regular dude is to vote with your wallet. Quit flowing money towards people who clearly don't care about you. Either they'll start caring, or they won't. Either way they'll have the fan base they want to have.

Problem is EVERYTHING with this idea.

Totally agreed. Just didn't feel like going into all the traffic/logistics reasons on top of trying to enforce this on a big state campus.

It’s amazing and disgusting to see the control the hoodie-American community has on law abiding folk.

Get some national guardsmen to handle the stuff like directing traffic at intersections and free up more cops to patrol Northgate and any other problem areas.

I bet if there was a heavy police presence in those areas and they were arresting people for weed, the parties that attract the trouble makers would suddenly die down.

What do you propose law abiding folk do about it?

The "hoodie-american" community is willing to shoot it out. Are you?

It’s because it’s a stupid idea. We will go and the wives and kids will tailgate with us. We will go to the game and the wives and kids go home when we walk to the game. There are tons of people that do very similar things.

Yeah, that area of Highland past the band practice facility was the no-go zone in the 90's. Aster was the line, and we certainly weren't driving around the "presidential" streets. But the people who lived there have traditionally kept to themselves, for the most part.

Unless it was kept on the down low, I have never heard of shootings happening two games in a row within spitting distance of the north gates. That's actually wild.

Our friends do this all of the time. I'll give my ticket to another husband so the guys can go watch, and the wives will go have dinner and just watch the game somewhere. None of us care if we enter the stadium more than once per season.

I'll sometimes walk back to the car by myself, and I have never once felt unsafe until this year. After the Florida game, and the seedy element hanging around, I told my husband never again. He'll need to walk me the entire way and I'll leave the tailgate earlier.

The closest they can come to doing this is what they have already done by making you have a parking pass to drive on campus.
