This thing has a tiny wind field. This is nothing like massive Katrina or Rita. That's why it was able to strengthen so rapidly. One town is going to get destroyed while next door will have minor damage.

When hurricanes get this big and angry, I think they should have a male name. Like Butch or something.

This thing would get within 10 miles of landfall then collaspe on itself to barely being a tropical depression

It's way too early to predict if it will make it to the gulf.

We all wish it was named Butch. Or even Bert.
If it was named Bert, it would look like a nice looking hurricane off shore, but when it came down to business on the coast line, it just wouldn't really work right.

The cam is usually shut it down after dark. Sometimes it will be off because I am doing something resource intensive on the computer, the flash crashed or I just forgot to turn it on :) Due to the cam being in a water tight case (and for privacy considerations) there is no sound.

Wonder how long it will last

If (big if) it did reform in the Gulf and head toward Franklin then Baton Rouge would definitely feel something. Not much from a tropical storm but something. I don't think shear will be very condusive for much development, though, right? The only way we could get anything going this year is for a record breaking Cat 5 to cross over from the EPAC.

Damn, I like Puerto Vallarta, and that tiny village of Jallapa. Probably wiped out.

I have no clue what kind of options are further inland. I would think the Hilton would have one of the safest structures in the area but obviously the proximity to the water is very concerning.

Won't the winds be coming from the east and northeast blowing out to sea at Puerto Vallarta thereby reducing any storm surge? Isn't this a rather narrow field of intensity?
