Was that Charbonnet person honestly so bad that NOLA took an import from California over her for mayor?
For a place so parochial that your high school is still an important symbol of status well into adulthood, how did an outsider pull off the win in the first place?
Ask the Uptown geniuses

This is what people should be protesting. The Mayor and Governor are ruining people's lives and businesses. It's infuriating.

He doesn’t understand, he’s just some semi retarded transplant. Trying to have a discussion with him is like head butting a brick wall

If a person doesn't live or own property in Orleans parish, he must pay $50 to get an Orleans Parish library card or $100 for a family card.

Individuals who do not live in or own property in Orleans Parish can get an NOPL card by paying a fee of $50.00 for an individual or $100.00 for a family. These cards are good for one year and entitle their holders to the same privileges as resident card holders.
Grrl is right, you are what's left after people with brains have moved out of New Orleans.

Pat O’s is the reason I even care about LSU football or know about this message board. What a night that was.
The damage to the restaurant and entertainment industries is going to be much worse than most people realize.

New Orleans will always be my home but I couldn’t live there again. And when I get homesick, my trips home are always more frustrating than I remember. Except for the National Championship game. That was amazing

Are the voters in New Orleans so bad that they voted for Cantrell?
And the answer is yes. Stupidest human beings in America.
You’re dealing with someone who is too fricking stupid to understand the scientific data that is out there and available. Likewise because she’s too fricking stupid to understand the data, she’s too god damn stupid to understand the basic economic impact her stupidity is inflicting upon the city. Worse yet, her constituents are even dumber than her and have no clue as to what a colossal retard she is, so their dumb asses will hop right on the nearest church bus and ride right over to the polls and vote for her dumbass again.
And the cycle just keeps repeating itself. Retards voting for retarded grifters over and over and thinking it’s systemic racism keeping them down. No! It’s systemic uneducated stupidity that’s keeping you down, but you’re just too damn dumb to realize it.

I’m wondering what’s happened to many of the Professional Staff that worked at some of these long term institutions. They made very, very good money but the low capacity and less tourism has to have been painful for them. It’s a shame bc there’s hardly competition for some of NOLA’s best waitstaff and bartenders.

This is how you win re-election in New Orleans. You piss off a bunch of white people.

But what people here are trying to explain to you is that the damage being done right now and the closing of long time famous institutions... these are unprecedented for NOLA and can have extreme long term impacts on the city. We aren’t talking about “struggling for a while”. We are talking about major issues with the loss of major businesses and not as much $$$ around to replace what we can.
You think these places will be closed forever?
Good lord Karen, once things open up the city will have the demand. These places aren’t going anywhere, they may open up under management or ownership but they aren’t going anywhere

Many people IN Louisiana, that have frequently gone down to Nola, and spent thousands of dollars will not be coming back.
If I want crime, bums, and poorly ran governments I can drive out of where I live to work everyday. When all the old school restaurants and bars shut down, or get bought out by outsiders, Nola is nothing.
For many years my wife and I would take a weekend trip to New Orleans (from Baton Rouge) several times a year to take in a play at the Saenger Theatre, go to a festival or enjoy a concert. We'd always eat at a couple of nicer restaurants during the weekend.
The last time we spent a weekend in New Orleans, more than 5 years ago, we agreed as we were leaving that it would be our last time to go to New Orleans over night for any type of leisure.
The streets literally smelled like vomit + piss and we were approached more than a dozen times by aggressive beggars.
The hotel and restaurant personnel all made it clear we were bothering them by patronizing their business.
By comparison the "hospitality" workers in New Orleans make New York service personnel all seem like Fred Rogers.

I'm not saying there won't be some businesses that can make a return but you truly have no idea how business works.
