also Aug, September isn't exactly a peak tourist szn

if latoya close Mardi gras I think these arguments might be better. but as of now ppl like @biohzrd are just wishing things crumble. not exactly using facts

My birthday is in two weeks. I come to New Orleans. What can I do besides flick myself until I’m chaffed? Any restaurants open? Anything to do?

great story bro. we all know nola will be struggling for awhile. like I said it will gradually get better as things open.

Thanks, bro. But what people here are trying to explain to you is that the damage being done right now and the closing of long time famous institutions... these are unprecedented for NOLA and can have extreme long term impacts on the city. We aren’t talking about “struggling for a while”. We are talking about major issues with the loss of major businesses and not as much $$$ around to replace what we can.

Plenty of restaurants are open. Easy to get tables at almost any of them.

It wouldn't surprise me for bars to be allowed to sell go-drinks or maybe even be open. It wouldn't surprise me if everything was in the same level of openess either.

What does this even mean? How can I get a library card when I’m not from the area.

OMG. Do you just stay high all the time? NO conventions booked for next year. Krewes have cancelled or have lost many of the riders. People don’t have as much disposable income.

How can you not see that next year is already decided?

Would be incalculably worse had Mardi Gras not happened right before this shite show. That at least allowed many businesses to fill the coffers.

And borrow a library book.

But don’t worry! 1 Krewe is planning full steam ahead and apparently haven’t lost numbers like every other Krewe I’ve heard of so that’s going to make everything better!

No tourist. It isn't a mystery.

But thinking the city is closed is asinine. Bars are open as are restaurants. They are struggling just like everywhere is struggling.

The FQ doesn't have a ton of open businesses, but they aren't all closed. Plenty of people out every night.
