If you say so. Maybe the pastor shouldn't have assaulted someone on a public right of way.

From what I understand assault is the threat to hurt someone. Battery is. The actual hurting someone.

I believe the actions by the authorities are unjustified.

So you have no basis for your opinion other than how you feel inside?

You would be correct, but don't let that get in the way of how you form your opinion.

Which, by definition, is assault.

You'd think with all the lawyers some of these Pastors have brought in to defend their actions they'd know the law a little bit better.

The better argument is that Spell intended to cause the protestor to have apprehension that he would be hit by the bus. However, intent on the part of Spell has to be proven. Did he really intend on scaring the protestor? Or did he just accidentally get that close while trying to back up the bus? Also, there likely has to be a showing that the protestor was reasonably apprehensive of being hit? Certainly is a bus is backing up straight at you it's not unreasonable to think it may hit you. But, the the protestor barely moved, even when the bus got within 6 feet of him. So was he truly apprehensive that he would be hit? His reaction seems to suggest otherwise.

Alt26 has it analyzed correctly. A person who reasonably believed he was about to get run over by a bus would have scampered out of the way. Wouldn't you? I suspect no criminal charges will be filed unless it's something like careless operation of a motor vehicle. But, that obviously does not mean that the bus driver isn't a jerk.

Of course not. What does this question have to do with my position that I believe you should retain your right to assemble in this crisis?

Who really cares what motivates Spell? The authorities actions are unjust in my opinion.

He’s an arrogant piece of shite. But anyone supporting him being arrested for that “assault” is a far bigger piece of shite.

He's an idiot.

He knew the cops are looking for anything to arrest him since he's been a national story for a month now.

He gave them a reason like it or not.

ZERO reason to charge or arrest him for that single reason. I’m sure there were a litany of other reasons, but that wasn’t it.

This has nothing to do with reversing a bus at that distance and speed directly at a person that he admits to knowing was there.

Hopefully anyone trying to argue he didn't just assault a guy with a bus.

The problem is you've failed to justify your opinion in any meaningful way.

Your opinion.

Being argumentative doesn’t justify your position either.

The police actions are unjustified.

You're right, video footage and Snell's explanation justify my opinion.
