Hard Rock owns the site and hired the contractors. They absolutely have liability.
False. They do not own the site. The Kailas own the property through 1031 Canal LLC.

Kailas along with the other 1301 canal street development llc own the property

DAmn: A lot of lurking going on in this thread.

"Praveen Kailas and his brother Naveen are no longer partners in the development, known as 1031 Canal Development LLC. It’s a partnership between Mohan Kailas; Denzel Clark, president of the prime contractor on the project, Citadel Builders; and Todd Trosclair of All-Star Electric."

I'm use to public construction contracts, forgot about the private development aspect of this.

Probably the same guys who used this FEMA bloke as a patsy. I am telling you the rabbit trail on this thing goes all the way to China (Puerto Rico).

a very interesting question with regard to how much control citadel now has over their own jobsite
Zero until the place is not hazardous to the public.

Go on Louisiana SOS Corporate database and look up companies associated with the Kailas family. They use shell companies and loans back and forth and other games to shield assets (As well as for tax purposes.) It would take years to unravel and by that time the money will probably be gone. I feel bad for SOME of the other partners because they are going to lose everything due to decisions they may not have been aware

And only in New Orleans do you allow a family to keep a project such as this and grant them these kind of waivers.

Right on. They are going to first try and pin everything on the engineers and if that does not work, expect Kailas to attempt to crawfish and leave everyone else in the smoke.

What time they dropping the cranes?
Posted on 10/19/19 at 11:09 am to Anaximander
if you (citadel and the electrician) don’t know who you are going into business with, that’s on you. And that’s just for contracting purposes not even considering the partnership in the LLC
this project is 90% FUBAR at 11am today. The other 10% is pending the crane demo

Citadel is probably going to be released from the job,
if I’m citadel that’s the best possible outcome at this juncture. Their lawyers (if they are good) are going to want to demarcate the line where their liability starts and most importantly, stops.
regardless of their culpability in the failure and subsequent deaths/injuries, if they are excluded from the site now, it opens up for them plausible exclusion from the liability for activities at the site once that happens.
it’s a fricked up situation all the way around

My wife has the mayor’s presser on right now.
I swear I am getting dumber just by listening to this woman.

IDK, mobile crane on site needs to be tore down and he has it stocked out. Take at least a half hour to get it out the way.
