Who thinks the counter balance pokes a hole in Rampart and ends up in China?
That's my bet. The counterweight punches a counterweight sized hole in something that doesn't want a counterweight sized hole in it.

WWL radio said they hope to have it down by nightfall.
I would assume when they move the white crane it will be a signal that its coming soon.

I thought I heard the gas line is empty
Seems that way. There are some holes dug along Rampart now by Entergy. Not sure the reason, but would assume gas.

I'm having a very hard time believing that any Structural/Civil P.E. would stamp these drawings knowing that there was a flaw in the design that would result with the possibility of a catastrophic failure. If so then it was a major oversight on the firms part that shouldn't ever happen.
Copy/Paste engineers. I've had spec books for public bid jobs that were just carried over from a totally separate and different job and they didnt even bother to change the name on the pages.

Fire chief said if everything goes right, noon tomorrow.

The good news is gravity is on their side. If they can free up parts to fall straight down they will.
But the pieces have to land somewhere, and they are heavy.

The crawl under the mayor in her press conference just now said Saturday at noon.
The most New Orleans thing that could happen now that they've delayed is the crane falling onto the Saenger about 7 pm tonight.

delaying seems stupid.
if it's moving as much as they say, it needs to come down sooner rather than later regardless of whether there's a storm coming or not.
edit: of course this could just be so complicated that the demo team is having second thoughts about the plan.

I wish someone could photoshop Robert E Lee on the top of one of those cranes...

They aren't delaying on purpose. I would imagine laying charges isn't a task to do quickly.
It was stated that the charges will be blown 15 minutes after they are ready, time doesn't really matter.
Not sure about downtown, but it is raining in the city right now.

What storm? Ain't coming close to NOLA at all.
Posted on 10/18/19 at 10:36 am to Zach Lee To Amp Hill
The way I understood it was they're expecting that once the charges are all lined up they'll have the area good to blow in 15 minutes, but that it may be noon tomorrow before all the charges are prepped to go.

it's raining dude. please chill your jets

we're about to blow up 80+ tons worth of damaged cranes in downtown new orleans surrounded by historic buildings and utility connections and the issue is a little rain?

This will fall 1000% on Kailas when all is said and done. He is the idiot who pulled all of the strings
Posted on 10/18/19 at 10:47 am to MrLSU
it's a real shame that those three men were killed because if this could've just been a building collapse with no loss of life or major injury it would've been worth it to bankrupt the Kailas'.
get the Motwanis out next then Torres.

That’s one of main reasons they were giving yesterday for taking the cranes down.
Where the hell have you been?
