Oh... now the GC is talking.
This has a BP oil spill ring to it. Workers told to keep on removing post despite warnings, passing blame, and saying its monday morning quarterbacking for people who lost their lives.

Taller and more dense developments are being pushed by planning and zoning all the time.. you know the smart growth and sustainable bs that’s being pushed down the throats of taxpayers. When will enough be enough? Seems like greed won on this project. I’d love to see what concessions were made and what concessions were ignored by elected officials as part of the “agreement” that allowed this monstrosity to sail through.
facts over feelings here.
jk. dumb post dude

The outside support beam facing the street is what I noticed bulging downward/sagging. As for the pictures/video these guys are showing there is no way I could have seen that from the street you are correct.

Brian Trascher, a spokesman for the contractor on the $85 million hotel project, Metairie-based Citadel Builders, questioned the provenance of the video and cautioned against drawing any conclusions from it. “I think there’s a lot of Monday-morning quarterbacking going on, a lot of people trying to flex their engineering muscles because this happened,” he said.
this just may be from my experiences in the media... but the wise thing to say here is "we have outside agencies looking into all possible evidence into the cause of the collapse, and until we have their findings we will have no comment"
this guy said WWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too much

Ok, that make more sense.
Here I am thinking my eyesight is pretty damn good, but I may need to go have them checked.

LOL.
Hey... maybe this structure failed because of COMMON CORE. Why don't you run with that for a while and get back to us.

I really don't think you really grasp what is going on here. It seems like you are under the impression that this building collapsed simply because it was a tall building. From things I have seen it seems there may of been a big mistake by either the contractor or the designer.

a near note-perfect description of the goings-on in this thread
i'll bet $100 this thread inspired that quote and it's directed at this very thread

That's exactly it. If a tall building isn't allow to be built... then a tall building can't collapse. Duh.
She's so proud of herself for coming up with that "logic" and doesn't understand why the rest of us aren't giving her "atta girls" for it.
Meanwhile, if she stood in front of the building on Canal St and turned around in a circle, she would see tons of buildings that are much taller, that haven't collapsed... but that's too much research.

Google streetview's last update has pics from January 2019 if anyone can get clues from that.
