New reports from Hard Rock said they paid the money

Gotcha. Well that would explain why it took so long to get the money and the reason for the delays.

Which plays into my comments yesterday where I said it wouldn’t happen if the Kaillas had to pay in advance.

IIRC, they declared bankruptcy and are probably trying to move all their assets to Paraguay right about now.

I’m skeptical that Hard Rock would pay for this. There is almost certainly no reason for them to given their reported lease/branding agreement with Kalias.

Yeah, nobody's taking a PO from Kallas.

Yeah if I was Hard Rock I’d tell them to go frick themselves. I wouldn’t be paying $5mm just to demolish 2 tower cranes.

How is this considered a "win??"

It’s not. It’s a complete failure

Considering the situation, the hazards and risks, and the range of choices available, I'd say, from what it appears, they mitigated the worst scenarios in very short order. This is not a movie.

After watching the videos several more times

A. It DEFINITELY penetrated the street on Rampart. It's stuck. The counterweight actually hits it and it's stuck so bad that all it does is wobble. If it weren't buried and just balancing that would've knocked it over

2. They're SO lucky that the long-arse jib somehow perfectly landed along the street and in the medi... neutral ground... and didn't fall any other direction. It basically fell in perfect line with the street

C. The Canal St. crane was tipping towards the Saenger before the jib collapsed and caught the elevator shaft structure. They got very lucky in that regard.

4. The Canal St. counterweight landed on/inside the hotel's footprint. The Rampart counterweight fell down into the hotel at first, then tumbled into the street along with the rest of the crane; undoubtedly doing some damage itself.

I wonder what the "regular" rate would be for that kind of job, as opposed to this one.

This project is a separate LLC so I’d imagine it doesn’t have much in assets beyond the actual real estate. They will bankrupt the LLC and let the attorneys try to pierce the corporate veil for additional assets. They will probably succeed too but it is going to be a fight. New Orleans law firms getting ready to feast.

And I think they can get the rest of the cranes down easily. They can get another crane hooked into them at get the cutting torch out. The hard part is done and I’d say it was probably as best as could be expected.

Also wonder if it was a 5mm bond or cash payment

I heard the pads mentioned earlier today. I’m not sure if they worked or not

I’d be willing to bet they wired it directly I to the demolition company’s account. I wouldn’t take a check from Kalais or Citadel.

And what’s with the three dudes on WWL with the dust masks on?

I know first hand that Adams and Reese represents Kalias, however they also rep some of the biggest insurance underwriters in the world.
This will be interesting

Yep. Wire transfer and once funds are confirmed the job started.

I heard that Kailas tried to pay with 5M rupees, that was the cause of the delay.

Broad on WWL just called it the “median”.

I agree with her, but that's just inexcusable if you're on the air in NOLA.

And yet another fiscal hurdle....

Is this now considered change order work to the original demolition subcontract or will they try to make LeMoine/ Griffith liable for the additional costs from the current conditions?
