Our Lady of Mercy if you live in or around mid-city. St. George if you live in South Baton Rouge. St. Thomas Moore if you live on the east side of the parish. Other than that, the other schools are all about the same. You’re going to get judgmental parents wherever but St. George like to keep up with the Jones’ .
High school should be Catholic, SJA, Episcopal. U-High isn’t private but if you can get your kid in there then do it.

Both are great choices. From what I have heard FLAIM and BRCVPA have the best chances to get in with the lottery but even those are still 50/50 at best. Good luck.

I went to park view for jr high and high school. Good school for BR, but episcopal was light years ahead academic wise. The PhD math teacher at park view was ran off for getting into an argument with the football coach. I’m 35, so maybe the school has changed?

Does your kid want to play sports, and are they talented at said sports? Much easier to play at the smaller schools than the larger ones.

We are at Runnels and have been happy with the school. No school will be perfect in every aspect. Runnels reminds me of what oublic school used to be like when I was a kid (and not living in Louisiana).
Strong emphasis on the arts- visual and performing. Decent but not great sports. If it’s important to you to have a championship athletic program the Runnels might not be for you.
Academics are strong. Maybe not on the level of Episcopal but strong.
We moved from Dunham a number of years ago. It was just a better fit for our kids. Dunham is very regimented. Runnels is not.
Good luck with your decision.

CHS and SJA take pretty much the top half of each of the Catholic feeder schools regardless of their legacy, or athletic ability.
Now if you can’t qualify academically...you better be a legacy or have a 12-6 curveball.

If they are talented, they'll play. If your kid can't play at the larger high schools, they've probably hit their ceiling anyway.

Parkview was just fine for my kids.
There are shithead teachers and kids at any school. At least with the private ones, the administration will take action on the shithead kids who usually have shithead parents.
Athletics were pretty good. Most teachers are pretty good or they won’t be there next year. Sometimes they are a little heavy on the Baptist religion, but it is a Baptist school, after all.

Not saying that, I’m just saying be realistic for what’s best for your kids.
You have to look at the total picture when choosing a school for your kids. Sending your kid to a smaller school so they’ll get more playing time might be the right choice for some people, but not for everyone.

I get that. I was just pointing out that it is something to consider. For example, at Episcopal it's pretty easy to be a multi year starters in multiple sports, all while receiving arguably the best education in BR.
