Yes- Julie Fink is a good XC coach and has fielded some competitive runners. Runnelsnhs also had some success in baseball in he past and is respectable with soccer, volleyball and basketball. I should have been clearer. What I was trying to say is that the school while it has some success in athletics, isn’t built around sports the way some schools are.

I'm not here to poo poo on private schools. I graduated Catholic High. But this is the biggest crock of shite:
You can go to any decent public school and get that. It's not like private school flips some magical light switch and transforms a kid into an over achiever. It has more to do with the actual student himself/herself and the student's parents and their interaction with said student.
Now, going to a school inner city where 50% of the school is bussed in from the ghetto and the teacher wastes valuable class time correcting the little dindunuffin who doesn't give a shite about being in school, then yeah.
Zachary, Central, Livingston Parish, Ascension Parish - all have very good schools with successful students.
This is why people tend to move out to the suburbs. I know it's the chic thing on here to condemn those folks, but it's the main reason people do it. Baton Rouge doesn't give a shite about their education system anymore.

High school wise:
Episcopal is about 18 grand...20 plus all said and done.
Dunham is 15.
Catholic and SJA are 11-12 with donations expected.
To me, if I am an OT baller, Dunham gets squeezed. It is not Episcopal. And Catholic at least gives you a taste of what a large school is...less overwhelming for colleges. Dunham...what exactly are you paying that extra money for and why wouldn't they feel confident enough to compete with Episcopal? Same types of kids just about.
Runnells? No. Unless you want your kid to be smart on standardized tests but a complete weirdo at social events.

I'm a Central alum (pre incorporation) and agree that those schools are fine. I'd have no problem putting my kid in any of those schools. We just don't want to deal with sitting in traffic and we only have one school aged kid. In large part we are paying for a superior peer group to what BR public schools can offer.

Was public school kid went to BRMHS, but damn did I looove me some St Joe’s girls back then. Episcopal not bad, either. Both top notch.

5th grade is the last hold back grade now. If you repeat grade 6 or higher you lose a year of eligibility.

I have two kids and I’m not going to say what school they go to but I complain every week I could have a car note on a McLaren less than it costs to send them there.

Could you please tell me what church or parish supports Catholic or SJA? By definition, a parochial school is a private school supported by a parish or church. I think you chose your words poorly.

By the way, St. Thomas More has won been distinguished by more blue ribbon designations than any other private elementary school. Like I said, it’s probably one of the best private schools.

Parkview as a school from an educational standpoint is great. But it’s a business first and they went up in tuition more than 10% 2 years in a row. So for that I just don’t believe the education is any better than what you can find at any neighboring public schools outside EBR which is free. Basically I don’t think you should ever live in BR.
