Pics of chicks, no big deal.

Selfies jackin' it, recipe for disaster.

Pull him to the side, man to man, and tell him nothing wrong with being interested in pics of girls, but to knock off the selfie stuff. Assure him you won't tell his mom. (Even though you already have)

Also, tell him to jack off in the shower or the toilet like a normal functioning member of society.

Serious question....any chance any of these "girls" are those teachers none of us ever had in school?

Seriously, there isn't much you can do but just teach them responsibility and about potential consequences. This might be an uncomfortable conversation to have, but you have to have it. Don't embarrass him. Take him out or aside, just you and him, let him know that you looked and remind him why you can. Tell him what you found, understanding that it's pretty normal for a boy his age. But explain the limits and the absolute "don't dos" and why.

Frankly, there should be nothing embarrassing about this conversation. I could sit down with my 16yo son and have this talk without hesitation. Just make sure he knows you're there for his questions and that you aren't judging or trying to embarrass him. You just don't want this leading to trouble or public ridicule. And if he's putting anything on the internet, it NEVER. GOES. AWAY. If his classmates see this stuff, it will follow him.

And no, don't take the phone. That will fix nothing. He needs to learn how to be a responsible user of the device.

12 and 16 year old boys

My boys aren't that old yet, but I plan to have awkward conversations with them and do my absolute best to let them know they aren't in trouble for it. It's also important to let them know you won't tell anyone. My dad is gone and I often reflect on some of the best advice he gave me and a good bit of it came from awkward as hell conversations.

With that said, you have to talk to him about taking pictures of himself. You don't have to tell him that you saw his pics. Just give him examples of teens having their pics leaked. The main thing that concerns me about your son is whether or not he sent those pics to someone. He could have installed some chat app that is no longer on the phone.

Him taking naked selfies is the only real problem. He may be working up the courage to send them to someone, if he hasn't already.

The looking at instagram thots, and even porn, is a reality we live in.

I know how I was as a 14 year old teenage boy. So I can imagine how my 13 year old teenage son is about to start acting with more advanced technology and access.
Keep it to yourself and we won’t have issues son. That was my dad’s rule lol

He’s technically producing and distributing underage porn, so that’s an issue. Not sure if anything will stop him, so at least tell him to make sure his face isn’t in any of them.

And a reminder that there’s a scam out there where hot chicks ask you to beat off on camera, then they say they’ve hacked your phone and will send it to everyone unless you give them bitcoin. Don’t let him fall victim unless he’s bold enough to call their bluff.

I am going to be 1000000% honest with you here

I know a LOT of people who allowed their kids when they were young to have a phone with unlimited internet

I know a LOT of people who forbid their kids to have a phone, play video games, etc.

It is day and night which kids are exceeding in life. Which kids have better manners. Which kids are well behaved. Which kids are kicking arse in sports. which kids basically have straight A's. Which kids are getting offers to all kinds of colleges. Which kids who take care of themselves and care about their appearances and Which kids are turning out to be fricking losers.

It's black and white difference.

The phones, internet and gaming are turning kids into fricking zombies and losers.

I appreciate the replies. I put phone back. I am gonna talk to him about the pictures of himself tonight. Haven’t had a drink in several months but gonna have one for this conversation. I don’t mind “the talk” with my boys about sex and all that. Just the me looking at his stuff makes me feel like I shouldn’t have, won’t anymore, and all this access they have to bad stuff. I went to the hidden tab making sure no bad pictures of like drugs (I realize the irony considering my magic mushroom thread), vaping, dipping, devil stuff and didn’t expect what I saw. I’ve never suspected him of anything bad, just decided to go through his phone on a whim

at least think I blocked social media but I’m skeptical he still has access. It’s an iPhone 7, only works on WiFi.

I occasionally go through his phone. Not sure if that’s considered appropriate but I do it

Explain to him the severity of taking sexually explicit pictures of himself as a minor and yes I agree that part is pretty weird but I think blocking social media for a HS student may have a hand in why he is doing these things. I think that's a bit overbearing as a parent.

i disagree. And this is why:

taking sexually explicit pictures of himself as a minor

Sometimes kids need to be protected from themselves because they dont understand the dangers. Im so thankful we didnt all have cameras, phones and social media when i was young and doing dumb stuff. Kids today are getting bombarded with stuff they arent mature enough to handle.
