Daughter graduated from OU in May 2023 with a Finance degree and she's working in commercial real estate. Started with a 6 figure salary for an investment firm, but hated the job, so looked around. After 15 months at her job, she took a slight step back in salary, about $10k less a year and started her new gig, but she's in a much better position with greater autonomy and huge income and career growth potential. And she moved out. To another city. So for her, it's a new adventure. Which is perfect.

One (engineering) immediately got a job in aeronautical. The other is in Grad School.

They aren't applying for jobs then. I work at a Civil Engineering firm, and we can't hire enough engineers to meet demand.

then he has terrible grades or has terrible interview skills.
tell him to go get on with a construction firm as a assistant project manager or go try and get job as a planner at a plant...just something to get foot in the door.

brutal, think the post said she had good grades, working on the presentation may be the trick
I trust Dad can filter your bluntness a bit.

i mean i may be a dick but i work in the industry and deal with firms daily...they can not hire enough
so if she has good grades from good school then she sucks at interviewing or is applying for non entry level jobs
oh and dotd will pretty much higher anyone
so will places like toulany wong, fugro and others.
construction companies like Performance, R&R, Turner, and smaller specialty places like Structural love to bring on Eng as aPM.
then you have the sales world which is always looking, especially a female with engineering degree

Devil's advocate. If they are really a "manager," is this a horrible career if they like it? There are a lot of places to go from there if they want it. Uniqlo stores are usually busy as crap.

My cousin has a degree from a respectable college but working as manager of Uniqlo.
He might be screwing himself over by messing around with this retail job. The longer he’s out of school and not working in at least something tangent to engineering, the harder it’s could to be later.
Like 777 said, what about the military? Dude could probably walk into a recruiters office this afternoon and be on his way to OTS/OCS in a couple months.

Absolutely not, but the premise of the thread is that he tried to find a CE job and couldn’t.

My twin daughters graduated, 1 in December '23, 3-1/2 yrs and one summer class, the other in 4 in May '24. Both have good jobs in the fields.
To be fair, they both graduated with honors and double majors. Neither struggled nor settled for their initial jobs.
Paternity tests have been suggested.

My son graduated in December from LSU in civil engineering. he worked as an intern at a local firm in BR during school. When he graduated, he moved straight into a full-time engineer position. He bought a new starter house in January and got married in October. He states things are a little tight, but he's the type that will work his arse off to make it work.
Where is the starter home? And good on you for putting a down payment on his house.
Didn't think starter homes existed many places anymore.

Agreed. The permitting, zoning, and other expensive hoops make it un profitable for most starter homes to get built.
