re: Parents expecting people to pay for their kids activities. It's out of control.

My son played in a game this year where “the parents don’t have to pay anything”…yea, all my son was supposed to do is sell every day of his calendar fundraiser. So the 5th of January is $5 and it gives you 5 chances to win, the 23rd is $23 and gives you…yea.
frick the dumb shite. My son got a hotel room for two nights, food and drinks for 3 days, a warm up suit, a jacket, shirts, shorts…whatever…still. Spendy football game…but we didn’t ask strangers to pay for it.

I know a couple who makes over $250k. They are constantly asking for travel baseball donations and now have a Go Fund Me setup for their summer travel tournaments. Not sure why anyone would donate for that.
People have no shame these days. I'd be embarassed if I asked the public to pay for my kids' stuff.

Thank you. You're a responsible parent.

What I don’t like is the whole calendar thing where they ask you to pick a date and donate that much. So if it’s the 30th you donate $30….
Seeing these a lot. The begging parents are the issue. Make the kids hop on a bike and go dtd like we had to.

Now I know what they first question will be when my son asks if he can play in an invitational football again.

The football squares to pay for travel ball shite is out of control. I see that at least twice a week on Facebook.
Damn, if you want to be a travel baller at least pay for the shite yourself.

Why pay for it yourself when you can get some other jackasses to pay for it?
With having two girls and no boys, outlook is good on not having to do travel ball.

Making it to a travel ball world series every couple of weeks isn't cheap and little Braxton isn't going to make it to the majors if he grows up playing against local playground rec league competition.

The next 7 months should be crazy. He can’t kick for them until June 1st, but he’ll likely visit every school interested before then. Already been pulled out of class to meet coaches for one SEC school.
Just waiting on his rankings to reach out further.

Saw a new one this week, a mom doing an MLM claimed their kid is "hosting" an MLM "online party" for their activity and 100% of proceeds will pay for the costs.
I thought was gonna hate this thread, then found myself agreeing with the OP, and now I find myself wondering if this is a (probably _{very} inappropriate) chance for comedy

And yet……… those parents are paying $2 k house notes, $1200 10 year notes on SUVs, wearing designer clothing, going in debt for ATVs, bass boats and vacations. Clearly living beyond their means and expecting others to pay for this stuff.
I think fundraisers by selling a product like candy is fine.

I’ve heard this exact argument from one of my co-workers. I remind him that travel ball isn’t selective. It’s just rec ball kids paying to play in a private league. He seems upset by this revelation.

My kids play travel so I try not to get too worked up over as I realize not everyone is blessed as my wife and I
And I don’t mind any type of raffle, selling of an item, even gambling squares but outright begging with calendar pisses me off
We do a fundraiser where we sell 5gallon buckets of detergent, it’s high quality and last most people a year. We just make a post on Facebook, nothing more, nothing less. People tend to like it and wanna buy it
This year cause we going out of town for World Series, we did a gun raffle for 5 guns and a bow package with 6 winners
Again I didn’t find these bad, we didn’t beg for money or anything of the sorts
Everyone that bought go something
I’ll buy stuff or buy raffle tickets but just begging is terrible. The worst is asking for donations at the grocery store, that’s worse than the calendars
Thing is, travel isn’t even really expensive except the World Series. And if a team is really expensive then go find one that isn’t. Tons and tons of teams that charge less than 1500 with paid coaches, you don’t have to go play on traction canes “C” team and pay 4k to play in local tournaments, that’s dumb.

Helluva fund raiser though. They maintain not-for-profit or non-profit status somehow.
