Kids are 4 and 1. We shoot for in the bed at 7:30, actual tv off by 8. We all have to wake up early, but my 4 y/o girl is a nightmare to get up and dressed when she’s tired.

7 is just too early though. Hell the suns still up at 7:30. Hopefully when her batteries get a little bigger she can go to bed later. I feel like I never get to spend time with her

We've got two girls, 2 and 5. We usually have them start cleaning up their crap between 7:30 and 7:45. In the bath by 8, read stories, then asleep by 8:30. Sometimes the older one needs a little more time to settle down, so she can lay in bed with a flashlight and book for a bit and then will go to sleep by 9. If they've been cranky all evening, we'll start the process a little earlier. They are up at 6am on school days. Weekends, they might go to sleep and wake up a little later.

How the hell does that happen?

Some kids are just weird. My wife is the oldest of 3 sisters. When they lived at home, they would all be sleeping by 9 or 10 pm. But they also didn't have TVs or computers in their rooms, and I don't think they got iphones until they graduated high school. The youngest is now 26 and she told me the other day that she goes to sleep at 7:30 on weekdays... When I was a teenager, I was staying up until like 1 or 2 am.

We have a 4 month old. Bed time for her is usually around 8, sometimes earlier, sometimes a bit later. It's not a hardline time though, if we have something going on, sometimes she won't go to bed until 9:30 or so.

16 and 12, we just tell them to be in their rooms for 9 or so. I'm not going to give them bedtimes. Their at the age to figure that out.

2 year old sleeps with us, brutal, but no other option right now. She's laying in bed after bath time about 8:30, tv is off for about 9:45.

As one comment said, look how much time you're spending with them. I get off around 5, so that's only about 3 hours a day I'm spending with the kids. Weekends are pretty much whatever. I'm not trying to leave some fiends house at 8 just because it's the kids bedtime.

We don’t really have a bedtime for our one year old. She lets us know when it’s time for her to go to bed. When she gets pissed off at the world she gets put down for bed. It’s usually between 7 and 8.

Daughter is 9 and son is 7. We try to get them in bed at 7:30 on school nights. A little more lax on Friday and Saturday. If they stay up any later, we can't get them out of bed and ready to go to school at 7:00 in the morning. By 7:30 they are already exhausted and fall asleep almost immediately.

I have numerous kids, ranging from 4-14. They usually all go to bed at 9, with the older kids reading for awhile after that. Some sleep until 6:15, others until 7.

They’re getting at least 9 hours of sleep, and more if they want it. I’ve seen no indications that it’s too little sleep.

We normally eat dinner around 5:30. 6:00 is pushing it if they have to take a bath and want to chill out a little before bedtime. Hell, sometimes we eat dinner as soon as I get off work at 4:30.

My kids are in high school and I have no idea what time they go to bed. I usually fall asleep before they do.

When they were under 5, around 8 was their bedtime. Elementary age around 8:30-9. Most nights they were so tired they fell asleep before 9. We got lax in middle school and didn't really enforce a bedtime.

7:30 seems pretty early for 5 and 7 year olds.

Ex wife used to make ours go to bed at 9, we saw it differently. I wanted 10p as the bedtime.

Granddaughter has been with me for over a year, I've let her self manage her own time. She's done awesome.

I'm sure it will be different for her when she goes back to Louisiana after we go to the LSU game on the 4th.

that's what we did with our kids, wife's idea, she would tell them they could stay up as late as they'd like, or not go to sleep at all, but the first time they didn't complete a homework assignment or had issues being tired at school there would be bedtime rules

know for many people it's not the way it's done, but someone mentioned not eating dinner until 7:30. I just don't get it, man. If I'm not done with food for the night by 7 as a 28 year old I've fricked up my entire night.

How old are your kids? Are they involved in sports or extracurricular activities yet???

My 9 year old typically has some type of practice at least 3 nights a week…won’t get back to the house until after 8 most of those nights….so good luck keeping that 6:30 dinner time in tact if your kids get involved in other things

If you put your kids to bed before 7:30 you just don’t like them. Before 8:00 is just for selfish reasons. After 9:00 on a school night and you just don’t give a shite about being a parent.

I work with a guy who has no rules at home. His kids are age 2-20 and they all stay up all night. His 3rs grader goes to bed after midnight because of video games.
