Wolverine 1000 Mile Luke shoes that have been discontinued. Wore them mostly everyday for 2+ years as casual work shoes, beat the crap out of them, even stomped out a roadside fire with them...3 months+, $250+ later....really happy to have my kicks back. Pretty cool old school trade to be able to dismantle and rework shoes and boots. The guy did both inside and outside work to the shoes and I went with a matte finish since they’re casual shoes. First day with them back.

Seems to be a trade that's dying off. Fortunately there are enough around that I can get all my boots resoled and a new heel every couple of years.

If you're around NOLA there's a guy on Williams a couple blocks north of the interstate that does a good job.

frick off with that noise.
It's pretty nice to be made aware of good tradesmen in a trade that's dying off. I have some nice, leather-soled shoes that I'll need redone at some point, so knowing that the whole cobbler industry has not died off is okay with me.

California. Railcar is the shop. They also do great denim work.

I went to a cobbler to fix a hole in my shoe, he took one look at my face and said I can fix that hole in you.

You spent over $250 redoing black casual shoes
You are a strange dude.

They’re Wolverine 1000 mile shoes that cost $365...and they’re discontinued. No one has my size, so I either buy used off of eBay or I rework mine. From here on out all I have to do is send them in for the rubber parts to be replaced for $30.

How'd they get to the level that you need to spend over $250 if from here on out they only need $30 repairs? That math doesn't check out
