While not quite a perfect analogy it is similar to tabs and spaces for coding.

What kind of cretin uses spaces in coding?

So is Mrs LCA131. I don't think it's anything serious. It's just a burning sensation across my chest occasionally. It's really weird, like you're breathing too much cold air or something.

However, it does seem to be happening with increased frequency.

Interestingly enough, the style guide at a former employer banned the use of Oxford commas. Never understood the reason for banning them.

Your former employer is uncouth, barbaric, and disgusting.

Sort of? But really it's higher in my chest then when I get heartburn.

I hope you don't have severe heartburn, suffer painfully and die.

I vary based on how I feel it reads in each particular instance.

My work is reviewed by editors, though, so it’s ultimately up to them.

Thank you. That is very kind, understanding, and productive of you.

But let's face it, I'm on borrowed time anyway.

I just hope to live long enough for your brother to move to Charlotte and he and I can go out for a cold beer. And then he can tell you what a good guy really am.

Absolutely disagree. I can't stand two spaces. Many documents these days are justified line spacing and the double space really screws that up.

In HS we were taught to use the oxford comma.

In college I was taught not to. And I've stuck with that ever since.

With that being said the AP Stylebook says to not use the oxford comma in a simple series. LINK

There isn't a stance to be had. You're either correct and use it, or you're incorrect and don't use it.

This. Several execs at my company don’t use it and I want to die inside every time I see it. Caveman-level shite
