So this wasn’t even all of a sudden

Cook said for months, there was confusion over which meter Entergy was reading and originally tried to work out a payment plan with the utility.

Sounds like it was all of sudden some months ago and it's been discussed since that time with no resolution or explanation that Cook accepted. I'm making an assumption.

And now the place is back open thanks to a good ole boy handshake while it is being worked out. Saw a quote saying how he is fortunate and not a lot of others get this. He then said it is time for equality… wonder how he voted.

We had a place in Jackson, Campbell's Bakery. Owner was a big time lib, constantly putting down on Republicans and conservatives on his FB page. Ran off a lot of business that way.

Well, during Covid , he crying to the media about how much help he needed from government, PPP, all that crap. Great sob story and the media gave him a platform for a while before he ultimately sold the business.

Well, a few months before Covid hit, like November or so, he posted on FB some pictures of this nice, $50,000 Shelby engine he was putting in one of his cars. Yeah, he had an expensive hobby and instead of saving his money and planning ahead, he spent it on toys so when disaster did strike, he was screwed. OF course he expected us to pay for it.

Point is, there is usually a something else not mentioned In the story.

Fighting the LDR sucks. They make up a number they think you owe then charge penalties on that number until you pay.
This frickers drained one of my bank accounts the day before a vacation. Pissed me off.
I've been fighting with them for years. But pay them something while fighting or they will just take it.

I don't know how they have ghost meters anymore now that all the meters are smart meters that they can read and control remotely

That's why I don't do automatic drafts.

Dang. That was very well written.
No it wasn't. He tried to juxtapose city government corruption and inadequacy to an energy company that wants to be paid for their service. The two don't mix

He has no proof the bill is correct nor does the energy provider. An attorney should be able to go before a judge and offer that the energy company cannot prove this amount and prevent the shut down of his business over it until it can be proven

If his business is failing over $40k in unpaid energy costs, then it likely would have closed over some other issue.

*One other thing: if the power company can't find the meter, how did they shut off power?

The meters can be turned on and off remotely. They don't have to physically disconnect anymore.

Assuming this one has been replaced.

Either way, Entergy could just trip the breaker. They don't need a smart meter for that.

Unless you are on the lease you have no idea what the frick is in it. I have triple net leases where the tenant is responsible for utilities, taxes, insurance and general maintenance.

I also have leases where I am responsible for all of the above and tenant pays rent only.

And I have ten different types in between the above two.

This depends on a hundred different factors and one thing I do know-many tenants within the French Quarter are responsible for rent only with building owner paying all else if for no other reason than the tenant doesn’t have credit or resources to take care of the other items. They are rolled into the rent.

Need to see if said restaurant owner closes his restaurant to let his employees spend time with their loved ones the weekend after Thanksgiving to determine number of fricks to give.

Let me also add, the most expensive dish on the menu last Monday was the scallops over a white bean reduction. Ohh, you don't have red beans, but I'll take some scallops over white beans for sure... The scallops were overcooked and it wasn't white beans, it was literally some reduction of white beans and I was disappointed.

Apparently you can’t fricking read either.
