A coalition of more than 3,000 auto dealers nationwide is sending an open letter to President Biden, calling on him to "tap the brakes" on his administration's aggressive electric vehicle (EV) push.

quote:

"These vehicles are ideal for many people, and we believe their appeal will grow over time," the dealers wrote in their letter to Biden on Tuesday. "The reality, however, is that electric vehicle demand today is not keeping up with the large influx of BEVs arriving at our dealerships prompted by the current regulations. BEVs are stacking up on our lots."

quote:

"With the mandates they are putting in place, they are forcing the consumer to buy something that they don't want," said Tom Maoli — one of the letter's signatories and the founder of New Jersey-based auto group Celebrity Motor Cars which operates multiple dealerships — in an interview with Fox News Digital. "Consumers are not buying into the electric vehicle market right now because the infrastructure is not there, they're concerned about the range and it's 20 to 30% higher to buy the vehicle."

The biggest hidden cost in EVs is how the cost is being transferred to gas and diesel vehicles. Ford is losing nearly $70k per EV it sells. It is simply an unsustainable business model to rely on government subsidies that can disappear via stroke of the pen.

I’ve seen this movie before and it will not end well. Toyota may have been one of the only manufacturers to realize reality always wins in the end.

Implement tiered pricing. Biden voter surcharge of $20K per car.

People who understand basic economics have been pulling this alarm for a while. Politicians dont care, they live above the results of their own choices.

Subaru is offering 0% interest for 72 months on their Solterras. They look decent, but what Subaru driver wants a car that has a 228 mile range? That ain’t getting us nowhere out here in the mountain west.

Hard pass.

remember that time when he made up that anecdotal story about having “friends” who are “plant baws” and terrified of losing their jobs and how stupid they are. but luckily they have him to calm their nerves insisting O&G isn’t going anywhere any time soon.

that heap of bullshite he unloaded in that thread is hilarious on multiple levels.

Shouldn't they be talking to their manufacturers who are making what they have to sell?

I would guess because the manufacturers are the ones reading market demand.

Unless we believe they designed and brought these cars to market in less than 2 years.

Are they just now realizing this? And do they think the administration doesn’t know this? It’s not an oversight, it’s the plan.

they’re also the ones blowing all the money to retool and r&d. They’re happy to do it while they have insane profits on the ice side. It’s a great way they get to run from taxes.

Dealerships and domestic manufacturers have been like cokeheads running around enjoying the high times then cry to the government when the shite decisions they make come back to frick them.

Do you think all of these people are low-income? Plenty of yard guys that are making 6 figures

Sound pretty uppity of you to assume blue-collar jobs are low-income.
