I heard the giraffe had a sore throat. It was the humane thing to do.

Giraffes have incredibly keen eyesight, exceptional hearing, and a very cautious disposition, combined with his height, definitely give the advantage to him and not the hunter.

But how conditioned is this giraffe herd to seeing jeeps and people?

I've seen deer on a hunting lease become conditioned to trucks and people to where they'll come out to the road when the truck passes expecting some corn.

I know on plenty of safaris out there the animals are completely used to people in vehicles being around. Not sure if that's the case here or not.

If you then take your pencil and put one dot on it and act like you made the master piece yes

Look, I will view big game hunters that brag about their kills as douchebags. I have met enough as well to feel comfortable about my assertations. If you and others feel differently awesome. No big deal really

Actually, I am an avid deer hunter and I will even say I think it’s douche to brag about your deer kills. It’s just annoying as shite

Being proud and excited is one thing, but some hunters have an arrogance about their trophies that really come off as douche central

I wouldn't pay $50k for a hunt although I would hunt a giraffe if the opportunity presented itself. Saying that, I would not have the animal in my house because I think it's tacky. I have no problem with people that spend the money to do it and put it in their house but I would only find them to be douchey if they told me every time I came over about the hunt and how much it costs, etc. The actual act of going on the hunt and posting pictures I don't find douchey. Same can be said about a painting. It can be a beautiful painting but I would only say you are a douche is if all you did was talk about price, etc on it.

You really seem to struggle with an inferior complex.

It’s not just this issue. It’s almost all issues.

Sport hunting doesn't have a specific definition, but most define it as hunting without the collection of meat

Alaska actually has regulations for subsistence hunting. No other state, that I am aware of, labels it as such. So what does that make it?

What you just described as "sport hunting" is what most people would call "trophy hunting". Don't confuse the two. Market hunting was outlawed in the early 20th century, and very few people outside of Alaska require hunting to survive.

In the history of hunting, there have been three categories of hunting: subsistence, market, and sport. Trophy hunting is sport hunting. Hunting to survive when no other means of obtaining food are available is subsistence hunting.

I have a Euro mounted Fallow Deer in my hunting room. I shot it years ago when I was dating this girl and I went to a lodge with them. I don't talk or brag about it. It wasn't an accomplishment besides the way the shot happened. But for people unfamiliar with animals, it's the one I get most questions about because it's unique

Like I said, I don't have a problem with it. If I ask you a question then by all means answer but I was talking about people basically bragging about it.

Do you consider someone who goes to Africa on a safari but also brings home the bounty a "trophy hunter"?

Nah. Trophy hunting is specifically hunting for trophy animals.

Sport hunting is hunting just for the sport of it. Like going to Argentina to dove hunt.

What the average person does, hunt animals for meat, is just hunting.

I have a black bear rug hanging on my wall in the living room. I'm sure some find it douchey, but I don't brag about it and only tell the story if somebody asks. It's hanging there because it was a memorable experience for me that took over 10 years to accomplish.
