That really was an interesting take

Me not liking people bragging about their kills is my inferiority complex

I think the terms get thrown around and confused so often that it causes a stir

I like to chase big mature whitetails, they are trophies to me. But I do not consider myself a trophy hunter at all

I define a trophy hunter as a hunter that specifically chases the trophy aspect over the meat

the meat is just secondary or an added bonus, but the trophy is the main goal

and before anyone gets offended, I don't consider all trophy hunters to be assholes

Interesting. I feel the same about trophy hunters.

I can understand that. I’m not a trophy hunter or fisherman. However I do have a few mounts on the wall of deer, fish and birds that I’ve killed. I didn’t pay anyone to guide me on these hunts.

I do enjoy hunting as a sport as well as for the meat. If I can make a nice mount or rug of the animal then that’s a bonus.

I’ve shot plenty of deer in the marsh or in the woods that I’ve given the meat away because I didn’t have enough room in my freezer.

Not sure if that makes me a douche or not but so be it.

Not really sure why. If you posted his picture without Cecil next to it, none of the outraged pussies that melted over him would have any idea who he is.

Labeling anyone that goes on those hunts as douches is just lazy.

It seems to me the only people crying and whining on this thread are the hunters who can't fathom how people who don't hunt don't like the idea of a giraffe getting shot and killed no matter the circumstances. Hunting is fine, blah blah blah, but still doesn't make me wanna kill any animal. Open your simpleton minds to that fact and realize its ok to disagree

Not a trophy hunter, not my values but we're all put together differently so I don't criticize

Black bear is delicious though. No need to be ashamed of that

I feel the same about some trophy deer programs in the states. I think you're kind of a douche for partaking,
and most people feel you are a douche for a lot of reasons.

Here is the difference. Most of the ones in this thread arguing against the people calling her a sub-human idiot are just trying to explain the conservation aspect of hunting that "sipmleton minds" can't understand

Disagreeing is very different from calling someone..

A 160 whitetail on the B&C scoring system is going to taste the same as a 110.

Absolutely ZERO reasons to be hunting Giraffes.

We need to be better than this.

I just wanted to check in and say that this thread has me curious as to what Giraffe meat tastes like.

Not necessarily down with shooting one, but super curious as to whether or not it would taste good bbq'd

Ive done guiding in the past, trophy hunters are what turned me off of trophy hunting. Some have more money than character

However that's not all of them, and it certainly can be done tastefully. Unfortunately the attention seekers are the most visible

For some it's not about attention. Meat doesn't go to waste and the trophy is for memories. However many trophy hunters are the selfie addicts of the outdoor world.
