Wtf? In my point it actually is. I’m talking about education.

“The National Merit® Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955. High school students enter the National Merit Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®)—which serves as an initial screen of approximately 1.6 million entrants each year—and by meeting published program entry and participation requirements.”

Runnels has some unusual kids going there.

Send them to St Michels.

If you are an average student attending the most expensive private school in America you'll struggle and will probably still be average when you are done.

I hear ya. My point wasn’t implying that the next Einstein can’t come from Grambling. I’m only judging the school off of measurables that are based on students’ performance. I think it’s a safe bet to say someone gets a better education at Harvard than Grambling.

If you disagree, then you must rest easy thinking it is irrelevant where your kids go to school.

Yeah I don't think we are disagreeing here. Just probably my failure to communicate.

A Grambling student could but obviously not likely.

There are average and below average students in good schools. Income doesn't necessarily equate to intelligence. I believe that parental involvement has a lot to do with it too.

My kid tests at 8th grade in math in the 5th grade because I'm a nerd at heart and played math games with her at 4. My grammar sucks though and she's on level with that which is probably my fault too.

If you are involved in your kids education and life they are 100x more likely to be successful. That's why public education in LA is in such a sad state.

I meant what occupation.
Seems like a ton of money for kids to have an education. I’d rather than pay the tuition than our public schools here.

LSUGrl - I'll be honest, I'm still not sure what you are asking me
I'll tell you my experience with Parkview. It's all over the map. Some kids have plant baws and nurses as parents. Others live in 2 million dollar homes in Mallard Lakes.

I think there are more people that live on a budget and pay the tuition only to keep their children out of the crappy public schools than ballers that write a check and think nothing of it. It's probably 75-25% upper middle clas/rich

Both Dunham and Episcopal have some serious grade inflation problems. They have some dumb kids with 4.0s that get 24s on their ACTs

We aren't Catholic btw and I always felt like my kid would feel out of place at a Catholic school.

I don't think this would be a problem. When I graduated from CHS in '05 we had several non-Catholics in our class and from what I hear that % of non-Catholic students has only risen.

CHS certainly wouldn't make them feel any more out of place than EHS would for non-Episcopalians, PBS for non-Baptists, etc...

I would send your kid to whatever school you think would prepare them to be the best man he could be moving forward in his life both personally and professionally. CHS does a great job at that, as I'm sure these other schools do too.

A bunch of Dunham grads up in here. I am one as well and agree it’s a great school but Episcopal is better for academics.

Dunham has the highest price tag dipshit and great return.

Nope.

Base tuition and overall expenses are higher at Episcopal. Furthermore, Dunham's average Act and college scholarship rates are mid-tier in BR among the private and magnet schools.

Was not the case at EHS many years ago and from my understanding, it’s only tougher now.

EHS/Catholic/St. Joe/BR High are all great schools and will have your child ready for college academically.

I never knew a normal Runnels kid.

I went to EHS and I’m 30 now. I’d say my friends at EHS, Dunham, and UHigh have been most successful post grad, with some CHS in there too.

I hung out with kids from every school FWIW.

There's hardly a gap in quality between them. I'll never quite understand what people are really paying for outside of the status symbol of spending 18k+ year at Episcopal. It's a great school, but you'd do just as fine as any of the other notable private schools or BR High.

If by getting bought out, you mean the headmaster gave the school to a church to run since they couldn't keep the school open otherwise, then yes.
