You paid FOR the care of the elderly and infirm since you were 14 with the HOPES that there would be enough young and healthy paying into the system to cover your arse once you need it.

It has always been welfare.
Take money from healthy working people. Give money to old and infirm for general welfare of the individual.
The young and healthy do this with the expectation once they retire they will receive payments from the young and healthy workers of that day.
Food stamps - taking money from those who make enough money. Give this money to the poor and infirm for food.
Those who make enough money do this with the expectation that if needed, they will receive benefits from the program.
Neither program is voluntary, both are run by the govt.
Both are programs set up to provide WELFARE BENEFITS to those that need it, from those that can provide it, through the government.
Both. Are. Welfare. Programs.
I fail to see how you can’t grasp this.
