Sorry to hear your pain my friend, it absolutely sucks. I made that trip to the vet one time and vowed to never do it again. We had a mobile vet come to the house for our last two and it was a blessing. Both dogs just laid in their bed, eating eggs and PB, blissfully unaware of what was about to happen. I can’t recommend in-house euthanasia enough. Stay strong and remember the good times
I guess I was in blissful ignorance, hoping against hope that the trip to the vet would have one last Hail Mary attempt to save her but it wasn’t to be. My wife said she just knew the night before it was her last day with us so she said, I think we should cuddle her tonight and let her sleep with us. She spent her last night on this earth asleep on my chest.

So sorry friend
I look at my two everyday and think about how much they add to our home and family. I have felt your pain and know one day will feel it again.
God bless you

Took us 4 years to get another dog. We laid down on the floor with her as they went through the shot cocktail. It was unreal…I can’t even explain…but you know, unfortunately.
I don’t think I’ll ever forget the feeling of the breathe of life leaving her body in my arms.

I'm sorry you had to say goodbye to your friend.
I firmly believe that our pets will join us in the new heavens and new earth.

If angels are real, they come to us as dogs...
Sorry for the loss..
The bond between a man and his loyal dog is legendary and hurts when its gone.
Sorry for the loss..

16 years of great memories. As much as it hurts right now, try to be thankful for the great times. Thank God for dogs.
“There is a cycle of love and death that shapes the lives of those who choose to travel in the company of animals. It is a cycle unlike any other. To those who have never lived through its turnings and walked its rocky path, our willingness to give our hearts with full knowledge that they will be broken seems incomprehensible. Only we know how small a price we pay for what we receive; our grief, no matter how powerful it may be, is an insufficient measure of the joy we have been given.” - Suzanne Clothier

Sorry to hear it. Saying goodbye to my 2 dogs that we had before we even had kids was one of the hardest things my family has had to do.

Pets truly show us what unconditional love is. That’s why it’s so hard when they’re gone. I’m sorry for your loss. We had to put our 11-year- old lab to sleep the day after Christmas one year. She was so good with all my kids and I believe she waited to meet our 4th child. She had stopped eating for a while before I had the baby then miraculously started eating again after the baby was born. But she died a month later

Take comfort in knowing you gave her a great life.

I just made an appointment for my 15 year old mix to be put down next week. We got him when my youngest was 1. He slept in their beds, went to their baseball games, taught them unconditional love. Next Wednesday may kill me, but I know it is time and that does help. No shame in a life well lived and this dog had 15 years of car rides, steak dinners, and long walks.
Peace brother. I’ve heard it said to not be afraid of grief, for it sits next to love.

My condolences, bud. The last pup I had was a chihuahua who passed a few months shy of his 17th birthday. That was several years ago now, and I've just now started thinking about getting another.
He hated the vet, and his last act on this earth was not giving her the chance to put him down. The old man went on and died on the way to the vet. He had had what we believe was a stroke that morning. No pain or anything otherwise noticeable. In a way, knowing his character, he went out the only way he knew how......on his own terms.

I’m so very sorry for your loss
“Dogs’ lives are short, too short, but you know that going in. You know the pain is coming, you’re going to lose a dog, and there’s going to be great anguish, so you live fully in the moment with her, never fail to share her joy or delight in her innocence, because you can’t support the illusion that a dog can be your lifelong companion.
There’s such beauty in the hard honesty of that, in accepting and giving love while always aware that it comes with an unbearable price.” – Dean Koontz
