I love it..
Posters are more upset that these fine young men (i'm sure they're "good kids") are facing discipline than they are about what they were chanting.
We got lots of closet David Duke voters on here.

but i'm sure an opportunity to respond is part of it at the minimum.
What kind of response could they make to justify this? "Um, this song was drilled into me as a pledge by our pledge master so I was just carrying on a tradition." Yea, that ain't going to fly. In fact it would only make it worse.

You are one angry black dude.
I'll give you an A for effort though.

I'm sure there was some sort of campus tribunal... which is where these guys could've argued their cases.

Wow; they're douchebags no doubt, but come on, expulsion? It was a chant, not an assault or rape.
In which case they would be expelled and face jail. See the difference?

While what they said was by all means horrible and retarded, I don't think they should have been expelled for it. If colleges are truly supposed to be sacred grounds for free speech, then even this type of speech should be tolerated. Only type of speech that shouldn't be is one that is truly dangerous (ie planning violent events), but that's about it.
But seriously, how fricking stupid are those guys? First off the chant was retarded, but to do it on a bus to formal? They do realize that half of the people on board aren't active members, and all of them have camera phones.

the question isn't as much one of "free speech" as much as it is "due process".
Indeed. I can't imagine how this would comply with whatever their student due process rights are...even if it they were accused of prohibited behavior that was violent, would you not just suspend them first? it would be interesting to see the policy.

Or their daddies can hook them up with jobs where they work which was likely going to happen anyway. Also - moot - look it up homie.
I see this kind of talk all the time and wonder why so many people think every college fraternity member falls into this category? These kids obviously are idiots and this behavior isn't excusable in the least, but I have seen so many people assume "daddy will set them up" no matter what happens to them.

I'm not sure there is much difference these days but that's another discussion.

And even more open supporters of white guilt. It's a double standard... if a bunch of black kids are recorded talking about killing whites this is a non-issue.

What rules did they break?
This one...
Student Rights and Responsibilities Code
2014-2015
VI. Student Responsibilities
Prohibited Conduct
These definitions include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Abusive conduct: Unwelcome conduct that is sufficiently severe and pervasive that it alters the
conditions of education or employment and creates an environment that a reasonable person would
find intimidating, harassing or humiliating. These circumstances could include the frequency of the
conduct, its severity, and whether it is threatening or humiliating. This includes physically abusing
a person or holding a person against his or her will. Simple teasing, offhanded comments and
isolated incidents (unless extremely serious) will not amount to abusive conduct.

these rules have to apply to everyone, or else you have no rules. it sucks b/c what they said was so shitty, but you have to have an entire system of behavioral regulation, which includes adequate due process for those accused. the rules have to be clear to everyone, or else it is impossible to know if you are breaking a rule
SFP is a chant-fan. Just own it, brah.

racist language is protected and can't violate any alleged conduct code, for one
i wouldn't want to be the lawyer making that argument, but it has merit. john adams defended worse offenders and he's an icon

No, it's about SJWs running roughshod over the world now. The internet and social media should be exposing us to all kinds of extremes and learning how to deal with them, but it's really just making the world politically correct and reactionary for the twitter mobs. It's very weird. I don't feel bad for these morons, but I think kicking them out of school is extreme.
