What's this board's opinion on working retail or a restaurant and people who come in at the last minute or stay past closing time?

There's a gray area between showing up with an hour or hour and a half to spare for sure, but it seems like this is something that's pretty common and can go unnoticed by most.

Yeah I don't show up within an hour of closing. I prefer my food spit free.

Very trashy because the employees really want to go home after a long day. It's rude to them.

I won’t go to a restauarant with less than 30-40 minutes to closing time. Hated when I worked in a restauarant and a table would walk in 5-10 minutes before closing time. Those were the type of people to sit around talking for a half hour after they were done eating and being the only people left in the restauarant. I do my best not to be that person

Used to give my employees permission to turn away dine-in customers if they came in too late to closing time. We closed at 10 and didn't allow dine-ins after 9:30. I have no tolerance for people like that.

How much money do you think you lost over the years doing that?

Past closing is trashy.

If I get there before you close, do your damn job.

"The economy sucks and baby boomers and Trump"

Take my money and be happy for it.

It's not like any of you poor fricks are on salary. You are hourly and get paid for your time, or you are on tips and I will tip you.

"Dude bro, I only made $17 in tips tonight, it sucked. But then to make matters worse, right at the last minute, like 10 people walked in right before close, and I was so mad."

You get hired at the job knowing their hours of operation. It sucks but it's the job. That being said, if you're the customer be quick about it

I really don't see a problem if someone is there until close. Is it a little inconsiderate to consistently do? Yeah. But technically you have every right to be there. After close is what I don't understand with some people.

I ordered sushi a few weeks ago at like 1:50 (pm) and went pick it up at about 2:15. Got there and saw on the door that they close on Saturdays from 2-5 and reopen for dinner. They had one worker left just chilling in there waiting for me to gef my food. I felt like a total douche.

I think most people just don’t pay attention to times (at least I would hope)
