So if I can trust a quick google search, I’m wondering why the reaction we’re seeing with covid didn’t happen with either of those. At least not that I remember. (Two of my kids had swine flu.)

Not trying to compare anything as far as death, infections etc — just people keep saying “but covid is a NOVEL virus” point being we’ve had these before and didn’t respond this way.

Why? Any with any thoughts?

Trump, Election Year, Politics etc.

These people literally made up a fake impeachment claim, to impeach the president of the US in the House.

If this were 2021, we would have continued on with life as normal

So 99% of the rest of the world shutdown because of Trump and an election year in the United States?

I mean more recent times — that’s all. And h1n1 wasn’t treated this way.

Of course Spanish and small pox but I didn’t get that vaccine. Think I was 3 or so when the smallpox vaccine quit being given and I never got the vaccine.

So the libs cucked Trump into shutting down the economy?

Or is cratering the greatest economy ever another 6d chess move?

Never got that vax — not sure what ages were but I was 3 when they stopped giving it. Got all my other shots.

And h1n1 wasn’t treated this way.
We had something like 3,000 or so case confirmed fatalities in an entire year from H1N1 (April 2009 to April 2010; later revised to more than 12,000), despite being pretty much in the original epicenter (technically in Mexico).

We’ve had been averaging over 2,000 deaths per day for 14 straight days (14,000 to 15,500 deaths per week) with COVID-19, despite all of the measures put in place.

What are you talking about? We flipped out absolutely for both. It was a nightly news headliner for months.

SARS in particular, in spite of it never coming to the US.

There was a LOT of apprehension demonstrated for both. It only faded compared to COVID-19 because in the case of SARS it was contained and never became a global pandemic, and in the case of H1N1 in 2009 it had scary initial indications but rapidly turned out to be not more lethal than the seasonal flu.

The rest of the world is made up of socialist. The UK was going to remain open before they got cucked into closing from the backlash

Yeah because when I think of socialists I think of Germany, South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, etc.

Regardless, you moved your goalposts from “because of Trump,” to “because of socialists.”

Heard about it yes. A lot. Two of my kids had it. But we didn’t freak out from what I remember.

Closed the state/country: no. That’s the aspect I’m talking about. No one told me to stay home. No one told me to wear a mask. No one told me I couldn’t not to church or a restaurant.

I mean you have been reporting on the cases, hospitalizations, and deaths in the nursing home (or assisted living facility) that you work at.

From the last update in the PT thread, 6 residents had died and 6 more were hospitalized out of 50 total cases.

Have you ever experienced anything like that before? If not, why would you wonder why this is different?
