We have one like that around our pool. We don't think of it as a foolproof solution though. Our 3 yr old is always supervised in the backyard. Screened back porch has locked doors, and we are doing swim lessons. I still am on edge when she's in the back yard and I turn my back to do something

What the hell is a rod iron fence?
Seems to be fraught with incorrectness.

It is on an entirely different level than a boat, you can spend $15,000 to have a pool removed as I did, and be so happy it is gone it will seem like the best thing you every did with money.

Because there will be a cover on the pool during the offseason.

I have my 4 month old son in swimming lessons already. They're a little pricey, but that little guy is already kicking his feet and dunking under water.

As far as that fence, my friend had one around his pool. It was very easy for him to sell once it was time to come down. The holes for the posts have little caps that go over them when it's removed.

ETA: I don't know why that one is so close in. My friend's went around the far side of the slab. Probably just trying so save money I suppose.

We have a 5 year old and a 2 year old and I would never put a pool in until they were older. Only 1 time is all it takes.

Have a 5 and a 2 year old as well. My fence is almost exactly like the one you have in your picture. Most of my friends have similar setups. It’s very functional.

Also having a pool when they are young is the absolute best. Anyone who says wait until they are older will just be wasting money. Living here in south Florida the almost universal advice I received was do it while they are young and will actually enjoy it.

Im not sure I could have a pool with small kids around, id be a nervous wreck. In our town, There was a toddler who wandered into the neighbors backyard and drowned a few years back. Just a heart breaking story, they said he took his shoes off and everything before he got in.
One of those stories with the dad thinking mom had him and the mom thinking dad had him.
Since then, my mind has changed on having one as I have 3 young boys.

I’m glad you figured that out. I thought this “”rod iron” was something new.

The installer we used charged $13 per linear foot for materials and labor. We were also quoted at $20 per foot from a different installer.

I’m glad you posted this, OP. I’m in the same situation. I’ve decided to put deadbolts on the back and front doors, so that a key is needed to get out. My four year old already can let himself out of the house which is bad even without a pool. It’ll be annoying but a simple, cheap, and effective first defense. I’m also looking at various gates/fences/etc.

You know they’ll love it at a young age but you have to take measures to prevent that one time a child gets out of the house when a grandparent or maid leaves a door unlocked.

Glad to know I’m not alone!

I'm guessing autocorrect didn't like his attempt at spelling wrought iron.

I have some hicks in my family, so it's not the first time I've heard it. I'm sure a lot of people in the south go through life thinking it's "rod", because of how they've always heard it said.

That looks like a basketball court fence. You might get sued when certain people jump the fence to play, then drown.
